Materials :
All Materials will be subject to Approval of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited
(BPCL) / Project Management Consultants & their Engineer-In-Charge.

If any material is rejected by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited / Project

Management Consultants, Contractor shall have to remove the same from the Site
at his own Cost.

General :
Contractor shall furnish all Tools, Plants, Machinery, Instruments, Materials, Labours,
Qualified Supervisor, Consumables, any and everything necessary, whether or not
such items are specifically stated herein for Completion of the Works in accordance
with Specification requirements.

Lift and Lead :

Royalty / Other Taxes, Expenses for the Permission from Gram Panchayat / Concern
Authorities shall be borne by the Contractor.

Loading of Materials, Transportation of the Materials to the Work site by Tractors /

Dumpers, Unloading of the Materials at Site, Levelling-Dressing of the Materials with
Machinery etc. shall be inclusive of scope of the works.

Expenses for Transportation, Loading-Unloading, Watering, Rolling, all types of

Machinery, Labours, Leads-Lift etc. shall be inclusive of Quoted Rates.

Setting out and Making Profiles :

Masonary Pillars / CC Posts shall be constructed at intervals of 10.00 / 20.00 Mts. to
serve as Bench Mark / Proposed Levels - as instructed by the Project Management
Consultants for the Execution of the Works.

Masonary Pillars / CC Pillars ought to be constructed at intervals of 10.00 / 20.00 Mts.

for the easy movement of Rollers / Dumpers etc. and the levels between shall be
marked at interval of 5.00 Mts. Grids on Steel Bars.

These Bench Marks will need to be connected to the Standard Bench Mark – as
directed by Project Management Consultants.

The Level Markings shall be done on these Pillars – as per the instructions of Project
Management Consultants / as per the Drawings given.

No extra Cost shall be given for the Construction of Brick Masonary Pillars / CC Posts.

The Marking of Grid Area, taking levels with Dumpy Levels / Total Station Machine at
various stages etc. shall be done by the Contractor – as per the instructions of BPCL /
Project Management Consultants.
The Expenses of Laboratory Testing, Surveyors shall be borne by the Contractor.

WSEL-01 : Layer – 01 :

Wedge Shear Elements Layer (WSEL) shall be constructed using locally available
rock- hard / dense Rubble stones of heights 250mm (Variable up to + or – 25mm)
and of about 300mm to 400mm in lengths and widths.

All these stones shall be placed immediately adjacent to each other with stable /flat
base resting on ground and heights of stones projecting upwards.
The Voids shall be filled with Small rock stone pieces / 50-75mm Size Metal &10-20mm
Coarse Aggregate.

After filling the Voids with such Metal / Coarse Aggregate, Dry Rolling shall be done
with 10 T Road Roller (Rolling – Phase 01).
Rolling shall be done for 01 Hour per 100 SQM Area.

The Total thickness of Stones shall be about 250 to 280mm in loose conditions.
After the work of Rolling – Phase 01, on top of it place / Spread Granular Silty –
Gravelly - Sandy Murrum soils must be placed on top of the layer, neatly, in order to
cover the Rubble Stones and fill the voids / interstices between them such that the
Total thickness of a layer in loose condition shall be about 350mm.
Then Sprinkle water over top of Sand / Murrum soils at the rate of 05 Litres per SQM
Area and allow it to soak for 01 Hour.
Then, Rolling (Rolling – Phase 02) shall be done with Vibratory Roller (with Single Steel
Drum & tyre Mounted) of minimum static weight of 80 to 100 KN to move on top of
Sand / Murrum soil so as to compact the WSEL Layer thoroughly.
Rolling shall be done for 03 Hours per 100 SQM Area and up to till the Complete
Compaction is achieved.

The Compaction shall be certified visually by allowing Roller to move on a Layer for
about 01 Hour in presence of Certifying Authority / Engineer-in-charge and
observing the performance of Compacted Layer.

The Compacted Thickness of WSEL shall be 300mm.

All types of Rolling shall be done – as per the Grid Wise Area, as instructed by the
Certifying Authority / Engineer-in-charge.

Records / Register shall be maintained for Watering Quantity & Rolling Hours by the
Contractor and shall be Checked by the Certifying Authority / Engineer-in-charge.

Contractor would have to approve Quality & Size of Rubble-Metal-Aggregate and

Quality of Sand, Murrum from Certifying Authority / Engineer-in-charge prior to
commencement of the works.

The Materials such as Rubble, Metal, Aggregate, Sand, Murrum etc. shall be tested in
the Approved Laboratory prior to commencement of the works – as per the
Laboratory Test Critieria.

WSEL works shall be measured as finished work in position, in the unit of Square Meter
and Compacted thickness shall be 300mm.

WSEL-02 : Layer -02 :

Wedge Shear Elements Layer (WSEL) shall be done – as per the Specifications /
Instructions – mentioned in WSEL-01 details.
