Famous American Scrapbook Project

Due October 18, 2019

This month, your project will be to create a Scrapbook of a Famous American. You will
choose someone you are interested in learning about, you will research their lives and
create a paper scrapbook.
You can choose any famous American you would like to learn about. The famous
American can be anyone who has made a positive impact on our country. The person
you choose cannot be famous because of poor choices, words or actions. If we feel the
person you chose is not appropriate we will help you choose another person.
Your Scrapbook will need to include:
1. 6-8 pages about the person’s life. It should start from their date of birth and end
when they died or the present day.
2. Information about their childhood, education, career, families, accomplishments,
and why they are famous.
3. Pictures of the famous person, their families, the places they visited, and
anything else that tells their story.
4. Interesting facts you learned about them.
5. A paragraph explaining why you chose them and why they are important to you.
6. A bibliography
Paper Scrapbook Criteria:
1. Make sure that your scrapbook is neat and visually appealing. If you have to use
black and white photos, then try coloring them in.
2. Make sure your Scrapbook is easy to read- Don’t go crazy with the decorations on
your information.
3. Make sure the information is in your own words. Don’t just copy from a book or
a website. Trust us, we will know if you did!
4. You need to make it visually appealing with pictures, stickers, clip art from the
internet, etc. The more creative you are, the better!
All projects are due by 8:14 a.m on October 18, 2019. Do not wait until the last minute
to start your project. We will only be able to give a very small amount of class time to
work on this project. You need to get started early and do a little bit each day. If you
choose to turn it in late, you will lose 10 points a day off your final grade. This project
is worth 100 points. Check the rubric for more information. You have plenty of time to
finish and turn it in on time.
