Your Body Language May Shape Who You Are

The 21 minute talk of Amy Cuddy talked about the power of body language and how it affects our
demeanor in life. It first explained how the animals in the animal kingdom showed their dominance by
opening up their body and became bigger. The animals opened their arms wide. This was also seen in
humans where they did power poses to show their dominance. Even if people were blind, humans showed
their happiness excitement by raising their arms up and their chins titled upwards.

From watching the video, it made me realize that my body language can affect my outlook on things. My
key takeaway in the video is Miss Cuddy’s line who said, “Fake it ‘til you become it.” It struck me the most
because I’ve always doubted myself whether I really belong in this degree. I related so much with Ms.
Cuddy when all her life she had a certain identity and at the blink of an eye, that identity she knew all her
life was taken from her.

Watching the video inspired me to change my body language and outlook. Even if I am scared to wits and
always afraid, what I have to do is just adjust my disposition. If I try to fake it, at some point some things will
change and maybe it is for the better. From now on, I will do this and hope that everything changes.

Miss Amy Cuddy’s talk was really an interesting video to watch and I am heeding her advice from now on.
