Daily Lesson Plan – ENGLISH

Title: Going on A Bear Hunt Class KP6 Date: Tuesday October 10, 2006

Pupils very first exposure to sensory story and therefore may be a bit uneasy to begin with
Objective(s) – NC- Respond to others in Role Play T.A
Crossing the Bridge- Attainment Target 1- speaking and listening- participate as speakers and listeners in Susan- support Mitchell
group activities, including imaginative play. Listen attentively and respond to stories. Respond appropriately
to simple instructions given by teacher Malika- support-
Introduction/Starter – In social room begin by showing pupils the book- explain that we are going to goon a William
sensory journey. Tell them that we are going to go on a BEAR HUNT. Show pictures of a bear- talk about the
bear/describe the bear- main features- eyes, teeth, claws. Paula- support Roland

Kristy- Narrating the story focused and on task-
We will be moving around the classroom and using different props to represent help them gain access
different parts of the story. Example- Fan and cotton for snow storm, Mud- for to the sensory
swamp, Leaves for forest. experience

Begin to learn the sequence and rhythm of the story

Plenary/Key Questions – and assessed on their
recall of the story
Discuss what we did, what did we see/feel/hear
Match pictures from the story and try to sequence events. Lesson will be repeated so
pupils become familiar with it and recognize key parts of the story
