Math is the hidden secret to understanding the world
By Roger Antonsen
Antonsen referenced the term 'perspective' and 'changing' constantly in his video. He said
that we use the capacity to change perspective in understanding. We have understanding, vice
versa when we have the capability to change perspective. His definition of mathematics is
classified into four according to Antonsen. The first thing is to find patterns. The patterns are
linked, structured and regular. Like a normal line, it is possible to turn the curve into several other
patterns. Second is representing patterns with a language. Patterns are like language, we generate
them if there is no language in a pattern. Patterns are always a concept or a word. An instance is
the braille code used to read words, fragments and phrases by blind individuals. Those who can
see it may not seem readable, but there are words inherent in those patterns. The third one makes
assumptions and the last one is doing cool stuff. Math, it's something that allows us to do a lot.
Thus, mathematics is present in the tying of a knot. Math is also present in the tying of shoelaces
and you just have to assess them before you can tie them in many forms.
Changing points of view trigger awakening in one's own mind. Change is an outside force
that allows individuals to expand their imagination and outlook. Change can be positive or negative
in various ways. However, there is a chance in the change. The potential to explore other stuff
beyond your perspective, outside your comfort range. This is why we have have been advancing
from the stone ages into the industrial era of the machines up to now. Many people have been
exploring technologies and making inventions. And creativity appalled their minds in this
exploration to produce something out of nothing. If men hadn't experience change at that time, we
wouldn't live in a world we have now. No innovations, no conclusions drawn, no refinement would
be possible. In my approach, creativity and curiosity are impacts of change. When one finds an
idea, it becomes a human being's work. Our world continues to evolve because we strive to
radically change it, because what happens to our external environment affects us. As I have said
previously, change can occur in many ways, and I believe influence is one factor. In Lost in Austen
Dan Zeff's series, he quoted that another's influence could affect the perceptions of an individual.
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, another example, indicated that change of view is affected by
others and will lead to a better grasp of the universe and oneself. In his statement on his craft, I
respectfully agree. We succumb to changes in our environment and thus accumulate innovations
to uphold with it. But in spite of all this, individuals still see change negatively in the modern
world.
Ergo, that the change should not be viewed negatively. Due to the fact that something
has yet been found in change. In these modern world issues, if change seems to be wrong, people
will find solutions. Therefore, something else would be discovered. Change is a cycle, if it's
positive, people are going to continue to improve it. On the other hand, If it applies negatively,
individuals will strive to come to terms with it in a way possible and generate alternative
approaches. It keeps going. You merely have to properly assess it in a different perspective. You
learn something about it in your observation. Change is either positive or negative, because you
differ from others in your capacity to comprehend. In mathematics, distinct solutions can solve
one problem, but it will end up with the same right solution. This applies in today's world as well.
