Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:
 define coordinating conjunction
 list the coordinating conjunctions
 explain how and why coordinating conjunctions are used
 use coordinating conjunctions accurately
 Perform differentiated task assigned per group

The teacher will play the music video of the song entitled “JUST THE WAY YOU ARE” by Bruno Mars.
Then the teacher will present the lyrics of the song and the students will identify the conjunctions used
in the song by highlighting it.

CONJUNCTIONS- are the words that connect other words, phrases, and clauses together.
A. Coordinating conjunctions- always connect phrases, words, and clauses.

Directions: Fill in the blank with the correct coordinating Conjunctions. Choices are

Class will be divided into three groups.
GROUP 1
FANBOYS MATCH UP!
 Directions: Students match sentence halves together. Group is given a set of cards that
contain five sentences, but the sentences are in two halves. The students task is to correctly
match the sentences halves together, and supply the appropriate coordinating conjunction.
When the students have finished, the answers are checked with the class by having the
students read out each sentence.

I like to eat cookies, for I love to read.

GROUP 2.
Directions: Rewrite the paragraph using coordinating conjunctions.
I love studying in Holy Spirit National High School. I enjoy my classes. I like my
teachers. I enjoy going to volleyball games. I don’t like the crowds of people at games. I am in
the band. I get into the games for free.
