1 BRIDGES AND CULVERTS

With the aim to assess and appreciate the existing condition / characteristics of the
bridges and CD structures along the project corridor, and particularly to visually
inspection of the bridges & culverts, a detail condition survey will be carried out with
the following main objectives:
 To systematically record the physical state of the structure as it exists
now.
 To ensure that the existing bridges with repair/rehabilitation are fit for use
and structurally safe.
The project corridor has even distribution of CD structures along the length of the
stretch. About 109 nos. structures & structures & cross drainage (CD) structures i.e.
bridges and culverts were observed during reconnaissance survey of project corridor.
Out of these, 1 nos. are ROB, 12 Nos. Flyovers/Underpass, 2 nos. are major bridges,
13 nos. are minor bridges & 81 nos. culverts found within Project Stretch. All cross
drainage structures are with 4 lane road configuration. Parapets and railings for most
of the structures (wherever present) were found good. Generally no skew angle
crossing of the cross drainage structures is observed.
The summary of the existing structures as observed is given below in Table 2.4 and
a detail inventory of the structures are produced in Table 2.5 & 2.6 (ROB & RUB),
Table 2.7 (Flyover/underpass), 2.8 (Major Bridges), Table 2.9 (Minor Bridge),
Table 2.10 (Box/Slab/Arch Culverts) & Table 2.11 (Pipe Culverts) as noted during
the reconnaissance survey. These will be further firmed up during detailed survey.
