What is plurality?

Plurality is a state of existing where you share your existence with several other conscious
beings. All of them live in the same body and share the body.

Plurals​,​ Multiples​, or ​Systems ​are (groups of) people who experience plurality/multiplicity.
Singlets ​are people who do not experience plurality.
Endogenic ​is when a system is intentionally created and/or forms on their own without trauma.
Parogenic ​is a debated term for intentionally created systems.
Quoigenic​ systems fall in the range of one or more of the following categories: they don't know
their system's origins, they don't care about their system's origins, they are composed of
multiple system origins, and/or they refuse the existing system origin labels.
Traumagenic​ refers to a system that stemmed through trauma.
Tulpa, Tulpamancer ​and ​Tulpamancy ​refer to a headmate (​tulpa​) who is usually intentionally
created by the host (​tulpamancer​) as part of a practice called ​tulpamancy​.
DID​ is an acronym for ​Dissociative Identity Disorder​ and is a system type that experiences
amnesia and ​has distinct headmates​. They are often formed due to childhood trauma.
OSDD ​is an acronym for ​Other Specified Dissociative Disorder ​and refers to two system
types: ​OSDD-1a​ in which personality states are vague, but amnesia is experienced, and
OSDD-1b ​in which personality states are present, but there is little amnesia. Both ​OSDD-1
subtypes are systems that do not fit the criteria for ​DID​.
DDNOS​ is an acronym for ​Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified​, and some
systems have been diagnosed with this instead of ​DID​ or ​OSDD​.
Median​ systems are systems in which facets of personalities are distinct, but all a part of one
person. It may also be used to describe ​OSDD-1a​ systems.
Soulbond ​systems are systems in which someone is strongly attached to a character, and the
character becomes a headmate. Alternative names include ​Fictive​ or ​Factive​.
Polyfragmented​ systems are systems with large populations, who often have many layers and
subsystems. They're typically formed due to trauma over extended periods, and due to their size
and complexity will often fall out of the scope of "normal" system mechanics.
Gateway ​systems​ ​are systems that experience having a connection, or ​gateway​, to another
world from which headmates may come and go. Some experience having two-way gateways
where headmates go back and forth, while others experience something similar to soulbonding
in that their gateways are one-way.
Mixed Origin ​systems are systems that have more than one of these types to compose their
system.
Origin Agnostic​ systems reject all notions of system origins, and instead prefer not to label
themselves or refuse to use existing labels.
Adaptive​ systems formed for a reason (often trauma) that required them to adapt to what was
happening by forming headmates. Systems that had to adapt to abuse or problems stemming
from pre-existing mental illnesses may choose to use this label.
Created​ systems are systems that were intentionally created, similar to the practice of
tulpamancy​. Other creation methods, such as ​soulbonding​ or intentionally building a
gateway​, may also fall into this category.
Spontaneous​ systems appeared suddenly and have formed for a reason outside of the
members' knowledge. Many endogenics or systems composed of walk-ins may choose to use
this term.

Plurality terms.
Switching: ​the act of changing who is in control of the body.
Fronter:​ is the system member that's controlling the body. There can be more than one
member active and controlling the body at a time.
Co-conscious: ​Similar to riding shotgun, the headmate can give their opinion but can’t act on it.
Inner world: ​A term describing the place the system lives, mostly used by traumagenics.
Headspace: ​An all-inclusive term for where the system lives.
Wonderland: ​A term for where the system lives, mostly used by tulpamancy systems.
Triggers: ​Mostly for traumagenic systems, things, behaviors, etc. that can trigger a switch or
trigger a dissociative episode.
