The Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University is pleased to submit this evaluation
of the performance of _______________, who is applying to your institution for postgraduate
training. This letter has been written after careful review of the student’s overall record and is
designed to give the reader sufficient information to draw conclusions about his potential as a
house officer candidate and provide comparative information on performance at this institution.
INTRODUCTION
Mr. _______________ graduated from Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University
in 2013 with a Doctor in the field of “General Medicine” degree which is equivalent to a MD
degree in the United States.
Mr. ________________ has participated in several extra-curricular activities while pursuing his
medical education. During his education he was engaged in several research projects which were
presented at scientific conferences. In 2012, he participated in VII International Pirogov Medical
Science conference for students and young scientists with the abstract entitled “The results of
laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute calculous cholecystitis - retrospective study”. His
presentations also included “First impressions of using of the laparoscopic-endoscopic approach
in cholecystocholedocholithiasis”, which he presented as a 6th year student, November 2012 at
all-Russian symposium of young scientists “Modern problems of surgery and surgical
oncology”.
In August 2012 on a competition basis, Mr. ______________ was chosen to participate in
student exchange program between our university and the University of Nebraska Medical
Center, NE, United States. He spent 4 weeks in the Surgical Oncology unit of the University of
Nebraska Medical Center attending daily surgical oncology rounds and weekly tumor board
meetings and observing surgical oncology cases.
Mr. ______________________ also played basketball team for Pirogov’s Russian National
Research Medical University, 2007-2010.
ACADEMIC PROGRESS
Mr. _________________ excelled in basic science and clinical disciplines. Faculty members
have commented that he was a motivated, interested student whose performance was steady. His
exam grades were either “excellent” or “good” as reflected in the medical school transcript.
SUMMARY
Throughout Mr. ______________________’s medical education, he has evidenced a strong team
orientation, with a willingness to do whatever is necessary for the care of the patient. His
medical school performance has been solid and consistent, and his work ethic exemplary. It is a

his application for residency training.
