13. A researcher works in a car making company laboratory tried to determine shear
stress at a plate surface for a car body. Previous experiments showed that velocity
2
distribution of a viscous liquid over a fixed plate is u = 0.93y – y with dynamic
viscosity = 0.9 Ns/m . Help him to find shear stress at the plate surface and at y =

0.42 m. (u is velocity in m/s and y is the distance from the plate in m.

14. A test has been conducted to determine the intensity of shear stress on a stainless
steel wall. The wall length is 10 m. Absolute viscosity of the fluid, μ is given as 0.051
Pa.s. The velocity of the fluid is 2.015 m/s at the beginning of the wall (82 mm from
the wall). With the assumption that linear velocity distribution from the wall, determine
2
the intensity of shear stress at the end of the wall at 65 mm from the wall in N/m ?
