Over the past few years, flagship phones have gotten really good. Top-end Android
phones like the Google Pixel 3, HTC U11, and Moto Z2 Force have offered users fast
experiences, great cameras, pixel-dense displays, and even advanced features like
waterproofing and so much more. Unfortunately, with these premium phones come
premium prices. Not everyone wantsor needsto spend more than $700 on a device
like the Galaxy S9 or LG V30, or even $500 on a great mid-range Android phone like
the OnePlus 6T or the Pixel 3A XL. These are great phones, no doubt, but for a lot
of consumers, theyre just too expensive for what you want or need in a phone.
Theres no reason to overpay for design, super high resolution screens, or top-end
processors if all youre looking for is a phone to get you through the day with a
full battery, to read email and skim through news, text and place some phone calls,
and take a couple pictures.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 happens to be one of those phones, whether you have the older
model or the newer 2018 version. With a fast processor, a sharp AMOLED display
perfect for watching movies or reading on the go, and all day battery life its
easy to see why the Galaxy J7 is such a popular budget device with our readers.
Of course, the Galaxy J7 isnt immune to user errors, and that includes forgetting
the password to your device. If you need to reset the password on your Galaxy J7,
unfortunately, its a bit tougher than you might think. For those that dont have
their Samsung Galaxy backed up, weve compiled a couple different ways to reset the
password on the Galaxy J7 when locked out without having to lose data or files. The
following is a guide that will teach you two different ways how to reset the lock
screen password on the Galaxy J7 when you get locked out.
However, some users have reported that this no longer works on their devices, so
your mileage may vary on this one.
FACTORY RESET
The remaining method has the virtue of actually working, but unless you have your
phone backed up, you will lose all your data and files.
Plug your phone into a charger and let it sit for a couple hours. This should allow
your device to backup to Google Drive. You may also want to let it sit overnight.
Turn off your Galaxy J7
Press and hold the Volume up button, the Home button, and the Power button at the
same time until you see the Android icon
Using the Volume down, scroll to wipe data/factory reset option and press the Power
button to select it
Using the Volume down, scroll and highlight Yes delete all user data then press
the Power button to select it
When the J7 restarts, everything will be wiped and will be ready to set up again
Read this guide to learn an alternative method to factory reset the Samsung J7.
Its important to note that before you go do a factory reset on the Samsung J7, you
should have a backup of all your files and information to prevent losing data.
