Same-sex Marriage and Naturalism

I am against the passage of same-sex marriage bill for the following reasons:

- I strongly agree on the overlap thesis stating the relationship and entanglement of law
and morality.
- We are a secular country, but we cannot escape the fact that our laws and even our
constitution are influenced by a religious belief (particularly Christian belief), which is the
main anchor of our moral notion. We must take into account the morality of the act.
Otherwise, it may lead into social disintegration rather than consensus. All those acts
and bills must conform with the morals being recognized by the majority in order to
prevent further conflict.
- Natural laws are above all known laws. Before there were positive laws, there is
conscience. And conscience is instilled through a belief in God, in a Supreme Being.
- The very reason why death penalty as capital punishment was removed in our penal
laws is the issue on morality. As with the same-sex marriage, I believe it should not sail
through for the same rationale.
- Natural laws remain the invisible fabric that integrates the society. Disregarding this fact,
creation of laws will be limitless.
