The vaginal ecosystem is
naturally protected by the
resident bacterial flora which, by
producing lactic acid, creates an
unfavorable environment for the
proliferation of microorganisms
(eg Candida). However, such
protected environment can be

and exogenous factors (age,
ovarian function, estrogen
levels, sexual activity, phase
of the menstrual cycle, use of
oral contraceptives, pregnancy,
ongoing diseases, ongoing
drug therapies) .
The key parameter indicating the
health of the vaginal ecosystem
is the pH, which measures its
degree of acidity and:
• has values ​​ranging from 4.0
to 5.0 during the childbearing
years;
• drops to values reaching 3.5
during pregnancy;
• is higher, that is towards neu-
trality, in menopause and child-
hood.
How to choose one’s intimate
wash?
A proper intimate wash must
respect the physiological pH
and the resident bacterial flora,
performing its cleansing action
without disturbing or being
aggressive on the delicate
equilibrium of the intimate
mucosa. It must not contain
harsh surfactants, which can, on
one hand, weaken the resident
vaginal flora and, on the other,
irritate the vulvar mucosa.
Nor must it contain potentially
allergenic substances (such as
heavy metals, perfume, gluten).
In addition, an intimate hygiene
wash should have different
features according to the specific
needs of a women’s age. It
should have a slightly acidic pH
for use during the childbearing
age, an acidic pH for use during
pregnancy and altered vaginal
conditions, and a neutral pH for
use during menopause and the
pre-pubertal age.
An intimate wash should also
be anti-bacterial for use during
womens’ period, during preg-
nancy and after childbirth, and
when mechanical contraception
systems are being used (eg con-
doms). Finally, when formulated
specifically for menopause, an
intimate wash should also help to
reduce the sensation of dry mu-
cous membranes.
Not just for women ...
Today, intimate hygiene is not
just a ladies’ matter, but also an
important gesture in any man’s
daily routine. Using a balanced
cleanser to remove any
secretions or secretion buildups,
means preventing the onset of
often unpleasant inflammation
and infection conditions, which

Having a pH of 7.0 - 7.5, it
is specifically formulated for the
intimate hygiene of girls and for
women in menopause, when
