DRAFT on GUIDELINES ON ISAAL HYMN COMPETITION

EVENT : Composing an “ISAAL HYMN” Competition


Objective: To write an inspiring song to promote the vision/mission /core values of ISAAL. The
emphasis is on the lyrics and music composition, not on the performer or interpreter.
Deadline of Submission: November 23, 2019, Saturday
Performance Date: December 14, 2019, Saturday
Target: All ISAAL member school students

Prizes  Each participant will receive a certificate of participation 


Champion: award certificate, P1,000,000
Second Place: award certificate, P500,000
Third Place: award certificate, P300,000
Special Award: Best Performer
Judges
1. Sir Dennis Balquiedra, ISAAL President
2. One who knows music and a member of ISAAL
3. One who knows lyrics and cohesion in either English or Filipino and a member of ISAAL.
PROCEDURE OF SUBMISSION

 Submit in person to _____________________

 Required documents and files as following:


(1) Application form
(2) Compact disc (including recorded demo, notation and lyrics)
(3) A copy of notation (a staff or a numbered notation) and;
(4) A copy of lyrics (short bond paper size)

 Put the song title on the disc and envelop it

 Pack all the materials in a folder or a short bond envelope


Criteria of judgment

• Lyrics: 40%, on understanding and expression of the theme

• Composition: 40%, on melody and arrangement

• Coherence: 20%, on harmony of the melody and lyrics

• Any piece without lyrics, composition or demo will be disqualified.

• Songs can be performed by contestants themselves or ISAAL member schoolmates and the
quality of vocal performance will not be included in the judging criteria for this competition.

• If the quality of the piece fails to meet the standard, judges reserve the right to cancel the
prizes.

Rules and Regulations


1. All songs submitted must be original.
2. Participants can be either an individual or a team. There is no limit on the number of people
in a team.
3. Contestants are required to provide true, accurate and complete personal information. If the
information is false, inaccurate, outdated or incomplete, the organizer may disqualify the
participant.
4. Songs must be written either in English or Filipino; their lengths should be within 4 minutes.
5. Songs must be performed in English or Filipino.
6. Songs can be performed by the contestant(s)/writer(s) or others (including ISAAL member
students).
7. Lyrics which consist of or contain violent, vulgar, depraved, repulsive, obscene or indecent
materials or foul languages will be disqualified.
8. The format of the songs must be in mp3, wmv or wma.
9. Any songs without lyrics, composition or demo will be disqualified.
10. Format of the score: a staff or numbered notation.
11. Failure to submit on time will result in immediate disqualification.
12. Songs submitted must be original and must not violate the copyright of the third party.
13. ISAAL retains ownership rights over submitted songs.
14. Participants cannot promote their pieces by any means during the competition.
15. Prizes will be awarded to the team if participants work as a unit.
16. Organizer has the right to use the award-winning song(s) for program promotion. The piece
will not be sold.
17. The decision of the judges and the organizer shall be final.
18. The Organizer reserves the right to make any changes on the rules, terms and conditions of
the competition.
19. Information of participants will be kept confidential.
