Hard Drive Installation Guide

STEP1: Target the correct location of SATA connector(s)

STEP2: Install either 2.5” and/or 3.5”HDD/SSD(s) to the docking system and
connect to the SATA connector(s) well.

Clone Operation Guide

NOTE：
 All existed data on HDD2 will be deleted once clone operation starts.
 HDD combination can be of either or both 2.5” and/or 3.5” SATA HDDs, as
long as the capacity of HDD2 is equal to or greater than HDD1.

STEP 1: Install at least two HDDs into the docking system

STEP 2: Make sure power is turned on and USB cable is NOT connected.

STEP 3: Press & hold the clone button for at least 5 seconds, then clone
operation will start by indicating all 4 LEDs in orange.

STEP 4: LEDs will then proceed to flash sequentially indicating the Clone is in
progress. Each orange LED refers to every 25% of clone completion. It
is only when every 25% of HDD1 is cloned to HDD2 that such LED will
remain constantly on, leaving the other LED(s) in running stage. When
Clone operation is fully completed, all LEDs will flash regularly in
orange.

NOTICE: Any time clone operation fails, LED on HDD2 flares in red, leaving the other
LEDs off. Refer to Section 4.4 & 4.5 in “Normal & Clone Mode Table Chart”
under “Diagnosis of LED” in below “NOTE” session for details.

Note
Clone Function
 All data on HDD2 will be deleted once clone operation starts.
 The capacity of HDD2 must be equal to or greater than HDD1.
If the capacity of HDD2 is greater than HDD1, the remained capacity in HDD2 upon
clone completion can be formulated to a new partition.

Power synchronization feature

 This device detects PC power status and turn on & off itself automatically. When PC
is off or hibernates, HDD(s) spin down and all LEDs off, except that Power LED
remains constantly on in red until main power is shut down.
a. In some OS, when system reaches sleep mode, only monitor and peripheral are
turned off while motherboard is powered on. In this case, HDD and LED will be
still on.
b. To enhance smart power synchronization, do not turn off main power of this
device.

Use this device

 Upon PC connection, this device operates by Normal mode (port multiplier).
2 separate volumes will be recognized. Either 1 or 2 HDDs can be used at the same
time.
 To operate Clone function, 2 HDD/SSDs are required.
 Removing HDD during clone operation is forbidden. This will result in failure and
stoppage of the operation.

HDD Support
 Installing HDD(s) with more than 2TB is possible. However, make sure to run this
device under Vista® , Win7® & 8® OS and activate GPT mode when formatting this
device to have it work correctly.
 The motor of hard drive will not immediately stop running after power being turned
off. Therefore, it is highly recommended that to turn off the power first and then wait
for 20 seconds before hard drive removal. It is safer operational procedure.

USB Connectivity
 The equipped USB3.0 port is downward compatible with USB2.0 PC/notebook by
simply plug and play.

SATA Connectivity
 This device supports HDD hot swapping. The following procedure must be fully
acknowledged before practice.
a. Hot swapping during HDD(s) operation may result in wreckage of such HDD.
(e.g. disk plate scratched, leading to HDD malfunctioning.)
b. Removing any HDD will result in re-detection of both or connected HDD by OS.
In the meantime, file transferring in progress will be forced to stop, leading to
file(s) corruption.
In conclusion, to prevent the above damage, it is strongly recommended that the
device must be power off and HDD(s) have come to a full stop before removing.

注意：

STEP 1: 裝入至少兩顆硬碟，並確認硬碟有穩固安裝於外接座上。

STEP 2: 確認裝置電源在開啟狀態，並確認 USB 傳輸線已移除。

STEP 3: 按住 Clone 按鍵不放約 5 秒，當 4 個 LED 燈亮橘燈即表示 clone 複製作業即

將開始。

STEP 4: Clone 複製期間，LED 燈會持續依跑馬燈形式來回亮起。每一個橘色 LED 燈

代表 25% clone 複製作業完成，只有在 HDD1 每完成 25%硬碟複製到 HDD2
的作業時，代表的 LED 燈才會維持燈亮狀態，其餘的 LED 燈仍維持跑馬燈來
回亮燈的形式。當 clone 複製作業完成，所有 LED 燈會一起呈現規律地閃爍
狀態。

注意: 在操作期間若 clone 複製作業失敗，HDD2 的 LED 燈會亮起紅燈，其他的 LED 燈

會熄滅，請參照注意事項底下 LED 參考表格第 4.4 & 4.5 說明。

注意事項
Clone 硬碟複製功能
 一旦 Clone 複製作業開始，所有在 HDD2 的資料將被刪除。請確認 HDD2 內無重要
資料或已妥善備份。
 執行 Clone 作業的硬碟組合可以是 2.5 吋或 3.5 吋硬碟，但 HDD2 的硬碟容量(目的
地硬碟)必須大於或等於 HDD1 硬碟容量(來源硬碟)。若 HDD2 硬碟容量大於 HDD1，
在 clone 作業完成後，剩餘的硬碟容量可格式化為一個新的磁區。

省電模式
 此裝置會偵測電腦電源自動進入省電模式。當電腦關機或進入休眠狀態，硬碟會怠速
且只有 power 指示燈會亮紅燈，其他 LED 燈會熄滅。
a. 在某些作業系統，當系統進入休眠狀態時，僅有螢幕會關閉，主機板仍在運作狀
態，在這種情形下，裝置的 LED 燈並不會熄滅。
b. 為執行智慧型省電模式，請勿關閉此裝置的主要電源。

裝置使用
 若裝置與電腦連接，即與一般外接座無異，硬碟作為外接式硬碟使用。若同時安裝 2
顆硬碟則視為 2 個獨立的儲存裝置。
 若要執行 clone 硬碟複製作業，必需安裝兩顆硬碟。
 在 clone 複製作業期間請勿移除任何硬碟，否則會造成硬碟複製作業失敗，也有可能
造成資料上的遺失。

支援硬碟
 本裝置支援容量 2TB 以上之硬碟，但請確保電腦系統為 Vista®, Win7® & 8® OS 以上
且利用 GPT 模式格式化硬碟，以確保硬碟操作正常。
 硬碟馬達在關閉裝置電源後並不會立即停止運作，強烈建議在關閉裝置電源後，在移
除硬碟前靜待約 20 秒，待硬碟馬達完全停止運作後再安全移除硬碟。

連接 SATA 介面
 此裝置支援硬碟熱插拔，但在執行硬碟熱插拔前，請確認以下需知 –
a. 若在硬碟操作期間拔除硬碟可能會導致硬碟損壞 (例如：硬碟磁盤刮傷導致硬碟
機能失常故障)。
b. 拔除硬碟會使系統重新辨識此裝置，所以若安裝 2 顆硬碟，在其中一顆硬碟執行
任務時拔除另一顆硬碟也會導致系統重新辨識外接式裝置，會導致硬碟執行任務
強迫終止並有可能導致資料損毀。
為避免以上情形發生，強烈建議請務必確認裝置電源關閉且硬碟運作完全停止後，再
進行拔除硬碟的動作。
