Heliocentric (Nicolaus Copernicus)

I chose Nicolaus Copernicus’s theory called heliocentric because I think that is the

beginning of the intellectual revolutions articulated ways by which society is transformed by

Science & Technology. His work was made from scratch until he made a book entitled “De

revolutionibus orbium coelestium libri vi (Six Books Concerning the Revolutions of the Heavenly

Orbs). His book consists the final output or final revision of his theory- the heliocentric.

Heliocentric is a theory that representing the sun is the center that planets orbited in the sun

rather than the earth that is called geocentric. His book shook the Catholic Church even though

he diplomatically dedicated it to Pope John III. So, the Catholic Church ban his book to stop

doubting of Christian faith because that time many people are Christians. The society

transformed it because they understand scientifically our solar system even though it was a

theory but many astronomers helped with their calculations in the solar system through this

book. After his main idea about heliocentric, Galileo, Kepler, Descartes and Newton were

created a new theory about his work and it contribute a lot in our society because until now we

use it as reference. These scientific and intellectual revolutions had a great impact what we

have right now because our lives became easier and we innovate more to create some

necessary things for our society and for the world. Indeed, our society transformed through

Science and Technology.
