LAW ENFORCEMENT

At first, American Law was taken mostly by common law system from England, it was used at the civil
war but the highest law in America is based on America Constitution.

Kind of Law

 Police

The American system of criminal justice by George F. Cole and Christopher E.Smith,
2004, 10 th edition, Wadsworth/Thomson Learning have identified three primary police agency
functions.

1. Order Maintenance
2. Law Enforcement
3. Service

 Judge

A Judge is an official who presides over court proceedings, either alone or as a prt of
judges. The judge is supposed to conduct the trial hears all the witnesses and any other
evidence presented. In United States, a judge is addressed as “ Your Honor” or ‘judge’
when presiding over court.

 Jury

A jury is a sworn body people convened to render an impartial verdict (a finding of fact on a
question). Modern Juries tent to be found in court to ascertain the guilt.

 Attorneys

An Attorney at law in United States is a practitioner in a court of alw who is legally qualified to prosecute
and defend actions in such court on the retainer of clients. Alternative terms include counselor and
lawyer.

Procedure

MIRANDA’s RIGHTS
Miranda’s Right is a series or statement that must be said to ensure the light of criminal that has been
arrested.

The Miranda’s warning originated in a US.Supreme Court Rulling, Miranda V. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436
which set forth the following warning and accompanying rights.

1. You have the right to remain silent


2. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court of law
3. You have the right to an attorney
4. If you cannot afford an attorney one will be point for you
