Research Design
The researchers decided to use qualitative research design to better explore the
Qualitative design are most commonly used to study human behaviour, opinions and
themes, this type of study offers deeper understanding on a certain phenomenon that
cannot be attained through number data. (Shuttleworth, and Wilson, 2008) Rather on
focusing on just the numbers, the researchers would like to go deeper into the subject,
seeking to know the reasons behind the results of the data gathered.
The target respondents of this study are the Grade 11 students of Humanities
and Social Sciences (HUMSS) and General Academic Strand (GAS) of AMA Caloocan
Campus. The researches chose to use a random sampling to choose the respondents.
50 Grade 11 students of HUMSS and GAS would be randomly selected to answer the

and Traditional books as learning materials and what are the reasons why they chose it.
The questionnaire is the main instrument used to gather the information for the
research. The first part contains the respondents’ information, although their

The researchers first formulated a title proposal that would be checked by their
research adviser. Their adviser then revised and approved the title. After the title of the
research is made, the researchers proceeded on dividing the work on each member.
The researchers first gathered information from related literature and studies that would
serve as basis and evidence for the construction of the Background of the Study. Then
they made the Significance of the Study. They researched for theories that would serve
as basis for the whole study. Subsequently, they constructed the Statement of the
Problem and the Significance of the Study. After this, researchers created a
For the researcher s to get the information they needed for the study, they
conducted a survey. However before doing so, the researcher first sent a letter to the
school administrator asking for permission to conduct the study in the school campus.
After getting the permission they proceeded on conducting the survey. The researchers
went to different classrooms of Grade 11 HUMSS and GAS, randomly selecting the
