The Best Method of Education

And all audiences whom I love

Firstly, I’m standing over here, I would like to give my greatest thanks to Allah
almighty, the lord of the world, the creator of everything in the universe and the
destroyer of the opposite, who has been giving me and you all his mercy and blessing
without stopping days to days, hours to hours, even seconds to seconds. Because of
those all, we can attend and gather in this beautiful place without any troubles and
obstacles.

Secondly, may peace and blessing always be delivered to the glory person,
Prophet Muhammad SAW, who has guided us from the dark path into the light one, till
we can know which one the right is and which one the wrong is by Islamic religion.

Then I myself will never forget to say thanks to the master of ceremony who has
been giving me a golden opportunity to deliver my speech entitled “The Best Method
of Education”

Dear Muslim brothers whom I love

We are not living in the movie of Harry Potter where students go to Hogwarts
school of Witchcraft and Wizardry and where the impossible is possible. If we had a
magic, we could right away make up the best teaching method or style to enhance
learning for all students, but that is impossible.

This is the reason why I don’t believe that any dramatic teaching breakthrough
will occur in the near future, but I do believe that three things I am going to share with
you today can enhance university student learning. They are; grasping student’ full
attention and motivation to learn, applying a combination of teaching method and style,
teaching and learning creatively.

Let’s begin with the first one important way to motivate and get university
student attention in order to enhance their learning. First of all, if students understand
the value and importance of the subject, they will be willing to devote time and energy
into learning the matter. Secondly, if students are allowed to work and share ideas and
opinions, their learning will be enhanced. Thirdly, students need to practice active
learning and not just learn by sitting in class, listening to teachers, memorizing and
spitting out answer. That is not enough. Students want to bring out what they have
learned into the real world to use and apply in their daily lives. Research has shown that
this hands-on method encourages students to naturally become interested in learning
and it has proved to be a very affective teaching method.

The second evidence I want to reveal is that applying a combination of teaching

methods and styles can also improve university student’ learning. Every student has a
specific type of learning style that works best for them. So, teachers are forced to
implement various teaching methods and styles, so as to captivate each student’
attention and motivation to learn. Various teaching methods and styles offer the
opportunity to learn in multiple ways; when several teaching techniques are combined,
students have a better chance of understanding what is taught. The more the variety in
teaching the better the opportunity to learn. So far we have had many teaching methods
and styles, and it is possible that we can re-enforce the old ones and put together. When
we have several teaching methods and styles we have the option to use these styles to
meet the various learning styles of students.

Last but not least, creative teaching can play an important role in enhancing
learning for all students. Creativity or the ability is a skill that can be taught and it
applies to all students regardless of their field of study. Sometimes lecture is a great way
to teach them certain facts and ideas, but actually students naturally learn and grow
from their experience. Teaching creatively by getting university students out of the
classroom and into the field, or into new world can surely enhance their learning. As a
result, we will finally have creative learners who can be successful in their lives in this
extremely competitive and globalized world.

I strongly believe that if we can motivate university students to become fully

interested in all the subject matters, we have several applied teaching methods and
styles to meet their interest, and if teachers give students new creative things to do.
When these things are combined, we will definitely enhance university students’
learning.

Perhaps just that and may what I have delivered to you all for this time be
usefull for us. If you find any mistakes from my speech, please forgive me. The last I
