indolent. most of Filipinos have the courage of perseverance to able to meet there needs and
dream in life yet "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the word”
said by Nelson Mandela. Not all out of school Filipinos unable to catch up there are some still
fighting for there dreams to able to come true.
INTRODUCTION

Does out of school youth Filipinos indolent? During these days education is very important
because it can help you to find a job, you cannot buy foods, needs, and necessities without earning
money for yourself. Education is important to be successful in life, to live with happiness and
prosperity. Education helps people to face challenges that we are facing and helps us ease the
failures that we are facing, also a good education can make an individual develop her/himself
personally, socially and as well as economically. It helps us to do our daily life activities in its best
possible way. It helps us to learn new skills and knowledge that we will use in our development in
life (Kumar, 2016). Also a quote from Nelson Mandela, “education is the most powerful weapon
which you can use to change the word”.
But what if an individual does not graduate or does not continue to school? Will he/she become
successful one day? There are some Filipino entrepreneurs who became successful without the
help of a degree or without graduating in a school: (1) Alfredo Yao, who is the president of the
Zest-O Corporation, who comes from a poor family but later succeeds in life with the use of
determination and hard work. He did not finish his education because of poverty but it does not let
him fail his life, later the Zest-O Corporation became one of the leading juice company in several
countries. (2) Socorro Ramos, who is the owner of the National bookstore, he did not finish her
studies and later applied as a saleslady in Goodwill Bookstore, with the help of his own knowledge
and skills she became good in sales and later promoted as the in charge of the store, and later met
the man that she will marry and she started her own book store. (3) Lucio Tan, who owns Philippine
Airlines, Allied Bank, Asia Brewery, Fortune Tobacco and many other major corporations in the
Philippines. He is one of the best rags to riches people in the Philippines because of his
determination and hard work (Moneymonster, 2014). This proofs only tells that Filipinos are not
indolent but Filipinos are hardworking and persevering that even if they did not finish their school
they can manage to become successful one day.
Being out of school does not define that people are indolent or lazy, some of the Filipinos can’t
maintain the balance between their family and also for their work in able to earn money for their
family without finishing college, some of them are selling goods and products in the market and
in the streets to earn money for their foods.
A diploma is not always the key to finding jobs. In another country there are successful men and
women in politics, business and even in science and technology, without finishing college or
school, there are Thomas Edison, who is the most prolific inventor in history and went to school
for only three months. Also, there is Bill Gates who is currently the world's richest man, who
stopped pursuing a degree at Harvard to build his world’s most known Microsoft Empire (Felipe,
Crisostomo, 2000).

METHODS OF RESEARCH

The descriptive method of research was used in this study for this method primarily
concerned with finding our “what is”. It aims to describe and provide information about currents
issues and problems through a process of data collection and to give better and deeper
understanding of a particular phenomenon.

Alceso (2017) stated that descriptive research seeks to tell “what exists” or “what is” about
a certain educational phenomenon. Accurate observations and assessments arise from data that
ascertain the nature and incidence of prevailing conditions, practices or description of object,
process, and person who are all objects of the study.

CONCLUSION
As we study about this topic matter we conclude that it is very tough to
be out of school Filipino but with the help of perseverance and hard work
nothing is impossible there are pros and cons about out of school but if
we able to understand the situation we can prevent the stereotype of being
out of school is indolent. but on the other hand “education is the most
powerful weapon which you can use to change the word,” said Nelson
Mandela. staying in school is great you can learn a lot of things that may
help you in the future at the end of the day we choose our path staying or
out of school does it make Filipinos are indolent they just have a different
path to fulfill.
