What is the strength of old curriculum?

These are the advantages of basic education curriculum to become strengthen. Like develop self-

reliant and patriotic citizens, develop of creative and thinking skills, helps all students learn more

by demanding higher student proficiency to provide effective methods to help students achieve

high standards, focus the education system on understandable, objective, measurable, and well-

defined goals to enable schools to work smarter and more productively, reinforce the best teaching

and educational practices already found in classrooms and make them the norm; Provide parents,

schools, and communities with an unprecedented opportunity to debate and reach agreement on

what students should know and be able to do, and they provide real accountability by focusing

squarely on results and helping the public and local and state educators evaluate which programs

work best.

What is the limitations of old curriculum?

The Students have a lack of mastery in basic competencies due to a congested ten-year basic

education curriculum. That graduates of the old curriculum are not legally ready to get a job or start

a business. And the Old education system offers a broad curriculum that does not include enough

practical applications.

SECOND YEAR SY 1ST SEMESTER TO 2ND SEMESTER

Malayuning komunikasyon, world lit, fund. Of special & inclusive

educ. Teaching science in the Elem grades (biology &

Chemistry), Teaching social studies in elem grades, phil. History

& government. Pagtuturo ng Filipino sa Elem,(estraktura at

gamit ng wikang filipino) Fund in sports & games rizal works and

writings, the teacher and the school curriculum. Tech. for

teaching elem grades, teaching social science in elem grades (

physics earth and space science) teaching arts in elem school,

pagtuturo ng filipino sa elem. (panitikan ng pilipinas) recreational

THIRD YEAR SY 1ST SEMESTER TO 2ND SEMESTER

Assess of learning 1, the teaching & the com school. Teaching

English in the elem, teaching math in primary elem. Content &

pedadogy for mother tongue, teaching PE & health in elem,


research in education, edukasyong pantahanan at

poangkabuhayan, assess of learning 2, building & enhancing

new literacies across curriculum, teaching English in the elem.

Grades through literature, teaching math in the intermediate

grades, teaching multi-grade classes, integrative teaching

strategies, thesis writing and edukasyong pantahanan at

pangkabuhayan with entrepreneurship.

FOURTH YEAR SY 1ST SEMESTER TO 2ND SEMESTER

FIELD STUDY (1-2-3), FIELD STUDY (4-5-6), Practice teaching

The new curriculum gives students the chance to choose among three tracks

(academic, technical-vocational-livelihood and sports and arts) and undergo immersion, which

provides relevant exposure and actual experience in their chosen track. the system aims to fully

enhance and develop the students in order for them to be well-prepared especially in emotional and

cognitive aspects. The K-12 system aims to improve Filipino students’ mathematical, scientific, and

linguistic competence. With the new curriculum, DepEd promised to offer higher quality education

through tracks. Each track will give students enough time to master a field and enhance their skills.

In the end, K-12 graduates will become globally competitive and are set to obtain spot in the stiff

labor market.
