REVALIDATE OR RENEW RATINGS

PURPOSE OF PPC
TO CONDUCT PROFICIENCY CHECK FOR THE

RENEWAL OF YOUR FLIGHT CREW LICENSE
AS REQUIRED BY CASR.

OBJECTIVE OF PPC
TO ASSESS YOUR ABILITY TO OPERATE THE

AIRCRAFT
IN NORMAL, ABNORMAL AND EMERGENCY
OPERATIONS
TO STANDARDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH
OPERATION MANUALS (FCOM, QRH, FCTM
etc.)
AND MEETING THE RELEVANT STANDARDS
OF ACCURACY.

RESPONSIBILITIES - CAPTAIN/PF
• You are the Commander of a 2 pilot crew operating a B737

and you are responsible for the setting and use of all
Aircraft Instruments, Equipment and overall cockpit
management.
• You are responsible for liaison with ATC, safe operation

and navigation of the aircraft and to adhere to all ATC
instructions. Make sure you correctly understand all ATC
instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES - CAPTAIN/PF
• Tune and identify Nav Aids or delegate to Pilot Monitoring
• Initiate all checklists.

RESPONSIBILITIES-PILOT
MONITORING
• Performs checklists upon request
• Initiates all communications/radio calls as

instructed

ROLES OF THE
CCP
➢ My role will be that of the ATC, Ground Crew,
Cabin Crew, Company and others as necessary.
➢ I will not prompt you nor will I make any

comments until after the check.

or reposition the simulator in order to carry out
the exercises

simulator and when I return control to you.

➢ The Weather throughout the flight will be as per

ATC.

➢ Auto pilot is available and use optimized it or as

directed by CCP

including the FD, ATS, FMC, MAP page, etc.

PPC GUIDELINES
➢ The PC / IRR starts as a Line Oriented Flight in
which some specific events will be inserted right
from starting the engines until the first landing.
➢ You are to follow Departure Clearance (SID) and

deal with any problem or emergencies as they occur
using the procedures and techniques that you have
learnt during your initial type rating training

PPC GUIDELINES
You must deal with any abnormal and emergencies

immediately and Do NOT assume that those events
occur due to simulator problem unless told
otherwise.
Treat this session as if it is a normal commercial

flight to create some realism and the flight shall be
conducted in accordance to OPERATION
MANUALS and other Company Approved Manuals.

PPC GUIDELINES
➢ Do not waste time but do not allow yourselves to be

rushed.
➢ You must inform ATC what you require.
➢ Make good use of the published documentation for
en-route and terminal areas.
➢ Set and observe the appropriate minimum.

➢ Remember the importance of task sharing and good

crew coordination
➢ You will be assessed as PF and PM

PROFICIENCY CRITERIA
➢ Perform normal and non normal procedures

according to SOPs

the regulations

• Understand and apply good crew coordination
• Communicate effectively with other crew member

FAIL CRITERIA
➢ Not using the Checklist for Normal, Non Normal

and Emergency Operations;
➢ Non adherence to Operation Manuals;
➢ Non adherence to SID and STAR (normal

operation);

FAIL CRITERIA
➢ Endangers the airplane, passengers or crew;
➢ Results in a crash;
➢ Multiple errors are made in the completion of any

one exercise;
➢ Violates an ATC clearance or altitude;

FAIL CRITERIA
➢ Major deviation from standard procedures or
practices or the safety of the airplane was
jeopardized;
➢ The candidate required continual prompting or help
from the other crew member to complete a task;
➢ Exceeds airplane limitations;
➢ The candidate demonstrates unsatisfactory

knowledge of airplane systems, equipment, or
procedures;
