Introduction

The Didactic Wall - handbook

The basic idea of this
​​ handbook is that there is no unnecessary or mislead-
ing knowledge, but only the possibility of being misused. As an officer
after military training and work with the young soldiers within the military
service, I considered that the knowledge I had gained in the process of
military education at its ultimate point implies destruction and inhumanity.
However, the idea of knowledge
​​ is its ability to be timely, humane and
transformationally applied in society. Art is a field that can transform any
kind of knowledge into a positive context and thus the society within which
it operates or intervenes. After all, where we experience failure as humans
we can’t succeed as artists!

The Didactic Wall is an artistic local intervention that educationally and di-
dactically seeks to intervene in the shadow of the current burning problem
of migration movements both on local level and across the globe.

In terms of content, both The Didactic Wall installation and publication

contain redrawn illustrations, schemes and diagrams from military books
that show, among other things, how to move and survive in tough weath-
er conditions, to overcome barriers, to orientate and move during a night
and day within difficult conditions. How to facilitate the movement of the
elderly, the children, or how to give the first aid to the injured person. The
whole project does not seek to exploit the hard times of migration by ar-
tistic means, but by trying to make it easier and to point the necessity of
empathy and help on that long and dificult path.
