-EXAMPLE 2: Nurse: “She could have run and waddled all about,
For even the day before, she broke her brow”.
12. So far, two important topics in the play are love and violence. Write a theme statement for one of the topics. (Ex.
One theme in A Raisin in the Sun is blindly chasing one’s dreams can bring hope or destruction.) Then, give an example
of where you see this theme developing in Act 1 of the play.

THEME STATEMENT: One theme in Romeo and Juliet is irrational hate, which guides to the families to an extreme
problem, because they can’t even talk to each other.

EXAMPLE:
line 79-86
“And hear the sentence of your movèd prince.
Three civil brawls, bred of an airy word,
By thee, old Capulet, and Montague,
Have thrice disturbed the quiet of our streets
And made Verona’s ancient citizens
Cast by their grave-beseeming ornaments,
To wield old partisans in hands as old,
Cankered with peace, to part your cankered hate”.
