The Maple Bear Education System™ was
developed for CECN Global Schools to bring a

A priority of the child-centred programme at Maple Bear is Language Arts. Children will not

an enabler, which opens the door to all learning. Your child will, in this way, gain confidence
and acquire the skills needed to become a life-long learner.
Methodology - Learning Through Experience and Exploration
When children enter school they regard learning as a pleasurable experience so they are
naturally inclined and eager to learn. It is important that the program reinforce and build on
this positive attitude by offering varied stimulating and enjoyable experiences.
The knowledge and skills that children acquire by the end of Kindergarten, along with positive
attitudes to learning that children develop in these early years, form the basis of effective
learning in the later years of school.
Teachers Ensure that Learning Expectations are Met
Competence in language, reading, mathematics, science and technology is developed
systematically. Teachers integrate subject knowledge into a variety of active techniques suitable
to the developmental stages of the children. Maple Bear has high learning expectations of
children within a healthy, stimulating and supportive learning environment.
Children Learn Through Direct Sensory Experience
They need to manipulate, explore, and experiment with real objects. They learn by doing,
moving and talking. Children are naturally curious about their world and are eager to learn
about it. They are active learners and learn through a variety of ways. Play is the serious work
of children. As they play they clarify information, integrate ideas from their previous
experiences, explore and experiment with their environment. Play gives them the opportunity
to add knowledge, learn new skills and practice familiar ones. Through play children learn to
deal with their feelings, interact with children and adults and resolve conflicts. They develop
their imagination and creativity and solve problems.
Maple Bear™ Students Utilize Learning Centres in the Classroom
The Maple Bear™ early childhood program features a variety of learning spaces for
independent and small or large group activities. As most children need to be active there are a
variety of learning areas or centres to provide for the different needs, interests and ages of the
children.
Art Centre
This centre has painting and drawing materials, scissors, glue, tape and a variety of papers to
allow the children to explore and express their feelings and ideas.
Dramatic Play Centre
This area provides the children with props for playing house, hospital, or store. There are also
puppets and dress-up clothes for imaginative play.
Games Centre
There are puzzles and table games for the children to share, think, problem solve and develop
their small-motor skills.
Library and Listening Centre
Books and tapes are available to read and to listen to.
Mathematics Centre
Manipulative materials for children to sort, count, classify, measure and learn number sense.
Music Centre
The simple musical instruments, which may have been made by the children or purchased, and
the materials available to produce sound, encourage the children to experiment with sound,
tempo and rhythm.
Sand and Water Centre
Cups, spoons and funnels allow the children to measure and experiment with volume.
