EXAMINATION RULES

1. Students must report to the examination hall at the REPORTING TIME specified in the Examination
Time Table.
2. All students must occupy their respective seats as per the prescribed seating arrangement. Any student found
shuffling the seating arrangement, or not occupying her/his seat at the scheduled commencement time of the
examination, will be disallowed from the examination.
3. Examination Hall will be closed within 15 Minutes from the reporting time, and no student will be
permitted to enter the Hall after 15 minutes from the reporting time. Invigilators will refuse entry to all
the late comers.
4. The examination will commence 15 minutes after the reporting time (In the event of delay, if any, due to
unforeseen operational aspects, equivalent additional time will be provided at the end of the examination).
5. Students must put their signatures and the serial number(s) of the answer sheets/ supplementary sheets on the
attendance sheet.
6. Students are not permitted to use pencils for writing answers in examinations. However, pencil may be used
for drawing figures, sketches, graphs, (or as per specific instruction from the Instructor), etc.
7. Students are not permitted to carry laptop, PDA mobile phones, bags, folders, books, textbooks, notes, and
other items/materials/electronic gadgets, except those explicitly permitted/specified by the Instructor in the
Question Paper, into the examination hall. If any unauthorized material is found in the custody of the student,
or on the chair flap/lower rack of the student’s chair, or anywhere in or around the seat, the same will be
considered as an attempt to use unfair means. No answer book(s) or question paper(s) will be issued to a
student as long as she/he is in possession of any unauthorized items/materials.
8. A student finishing the examination early and leaving the examination hall must leave the PGP/ Classroom
Block immediately. Silence must be maintained when arriving for or leaving from an examination.
9. Exchange of calculators, mathematical & other tables, charts, etc., is not permitted during the exam; and
exchange/transfer of books, notes, reading materials, etc., is not allowed in open book exams.
10. Tea/Coffee/beverages/eatable items, etc. are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
11. Any kind of peer-topeer exchange / communication / discussion – physical or virtual is banned in /
during the examination. Any involvement of this kind will be treated as adopting unfair means.
12. Use of any unfair means in examinations will be treated as serious disciplinary offence, and the student
will be debarred from writing the examination. It can also lead to other disciplinary action (s) including
expulsion from the programme.
13. The answer book(s) should not be taken out of the examination hall under any circumstance. Handing over
of answer book(s) at the end of the examination or upon completion of writing, will be the sole
responsibility of the student. Answer book(s) taken out of the examination hall by the student, and then
returned / submitted, will not be accepted or evaluated under any circumstance.
14. Students should respectfully interact with Invigilators and should strictly abide by the instructions
given by Invigilators in the Examination Hall.
15. Academic dishonesty in any form will lead to severe penalties. All instances of academic dishonesty/
malpractice of a lesser or a stronger magnitude will result in an overall course grade of ‘F’ as the
minimum punishment. The punishment may also include, in addition, suspension or expulsion from the
programme.
16. Student who is found violating or not complying with any of these instructions mentioned above; or resorting
to any unfair means; or obstructing the smooth conduct of the examination(s) in any manner will be
disqualified.

17. All Differently Abled Students are allowed to use additional time in examinations.
