The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they
want to do. It lets people be creative. It lets teenagers be productive. It lets people learn things
they didn't think they could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about potential. Advantages
of technology is access to information gets easier. With the help of technology, it has become
so much easier for our youth for accessing the most updated information about the topics they
want and they need. They can simply collect information of their use by simply searching it on
a Google. They got multiple results and the results can be in various forms. It can be in form
of images, articles, videos, slide shares, and much more. So by technology, it is so easy for
us to access the most updated and new information. Information is needed in almost each and
every sector. We need technology for simply preparing a presentation or for the completion of
an assignment.

Apart from access to information, the technology can also be convenience in education.
Learning is a process, and it is part of our daily lives. Modern technology has made it simple
for students to learn from anywhere through online education and mobile education. Also,
students now use modern technology in classrooms to learn more effectively. For example,
students use tablets to share visual lessons and examples with peers in the classroom; this
has made learning more convenient and fun such as E-learning and Quizizz. Also, new
modern educational technologies support individual learning which gives students a chance
to learn on their own with no need for tutors. Otherwise, today most of the universities and
education boards provide results on the Internet. The students can watch their results from
any part of country or world. Next, advantage of technology is technology saves us lots of
time, whether it’s our computer regulated cars driving us to work, washing-machines to do our
laundry, or automated banking to allow us to pay by credit card, use internet banking, or get
cash out from the ATM.
The technology has got its disadvantages too. In as much as it helps students in learning, if
not checked, students can spend most of their time listening to non-educative programs on
the internet. The entertaining stuff on the internet is much more appealing than then
information that students need to get hence the time that students spend on the internet should
be controlled to avoid such scenario where the technology does not benefit them
academically. Another disadvantages of technology is that with the invention of Internet
games, kids no longer want outdoor games that contribute to their physical and mental
development. As a result, kids develop lifestyle diseases such as obesity as well as failing on
interpersonal skills.

On the other hand, the evolution of modern technology has disadvantages, for example,
dependence on new technology. Many no longer needs to think. Even if the calculator is a
good invention, man no longer makes mental calculation and no longer works his memory.
The decline of human capital implies an increase in unemployment. In some areas, devices
can replace the human mind. The use of technology certainly needs rule and new laws. For
example internet use is an individual freedom. However, the invention of the atomic bomb
cannot be an individual freedom. In fact, regulations are difficult to implement when these
technologies are introduced-such as regulation surrounding the impending arrival of
autonomous vehicles.

In conclusion, today’s society is in the middle of a technology boom. Particularly convenient

accessibility to the Internet has made research very easy to complete with a short period of
time as compared the long periods of times as was in the past. Not to speak of building an
individual’s self-confidence the Internet has been being used to do research in one’s mother
language that can be translated by the Internet. People can either choose to take advantage
of this era, or simply let it pass them by. The internet is a very powerful tool. It has many
advantages, however, people need to be extremely aware of the disadvantages as well. We
should use it in a way that brings harmony in life.
