In a small barangay lived a mother and a daughter.

The mother’s name is Maria and the daughter’s

name is Carla. Maria is a single mother, who didn’t finished her studies because she got pregnant at an
early age. But even though she’s not that much educated she still work very hard to compensate for
Carla’s needs. Maria, being a good mother, filled and raised Carla with love. And all that love resonates
within Carla. Carla feels like she has lots of love to give, that’s why she’s always kind and helpful. Carla
bloomed into a beautiful lady and Maria always warn her never to give all of herself to a man before
they get married.

Carla was very beautiful and was adored by many young men all across other nearby towns. She was
courted by different kinds of people, but she never showed any interest to them. But one day, a man
named Philippe who was handsome and have ways with words, strikes Carla’s heart. Philippe courted
her for a few weeks and Carla was caught in his web. Despite that beautiful facade, Philippe has a
reputation to leave girls broken hearted. Carla never once disobeyed her mother but as she fell deeply
in love with Philipe, Carla was persuaded. After a few days, Carla found out that she was pregnant. She
was devastated because she knows that what she did will break her mother’s heart. She didn’t know
what to do so she decided to tell Philippe that she’s carrying his baby. Philippe lived up to his reputation
and left Carla without any word. Anyone can tell that Carla was depressed. She’s always deep in thought
and doesn’t eat or even sleep enough. She’s falling behind in her class and was looking gaunt. Maria
noticed all this and was very alarmed, so she urge Carla to talk to her. Maria thought that whatever it is,
she’ll help her because she loves her so deeply and nothing can ever change her mind. Carla and Maria
had a long talk about what’s happening. Maria whole heartedly accept Carla and promise to love her
and her child with all her heart.

Interpretation

The parable shows that the Kingdom of God is like a Mother’s love, unconditional and true. Even if
you’re a sinner you are still welcome to the Kingdom of God. We might disobeyed the ten
commandments or God here on Earth but it’s never to late to change the path you are taking. We can
always journey to the light and follow in God’s footstep. And thus we will have a place in heaven. Just
like what (Mk 2:17) states “ I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners.” The God the Father has
boundless understanding for their children. Just like Maria, who never hesitated to reach out to her
daughter who disobeyed her. God the father is the same He invites those who are sinful to the kingdom
and to be converted back to the Father who is merciful. And those who are converted will taste the
beauty of heaven.
