INTRODUCTION

Work Immersion or Community Immersion is an added guideline for the K-12

curriculum program. It provides learners with opportunities to learn about the

workplace, as well as the authentic work environment. Work Immersion is a key

feature in the Senior High School program. Guidelines have been formulated based

on the experiences of tech-voc schools said by Schools Division Superintendent, Dr.

Bianito Dagatan. It is one method by which students is given a chance to apply the

theories and computations that they have learned from the school. It also helps the

students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work

setting. High schools and universities require their students to undergo such training

within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. It shows the students

the real world outside their school.

NARRATIVE SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCES

21
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

A. Working with the Co-Workers

(Jachin O. Avenido)

My experience working in PICTO was knowledgeable and fun. They taught us

how to do some basic programs, they gave us a task that we should make a program

about Facebook email box and password box. When we have our free time we did a

little chitchat and the topic is also about the program. When they has a food they

shared it to us. When they have new Korean novels, they shared it to me, they were

kind and funny. We also love them because when we do not have anything to do yet

that makes us boring, they went to us to teach us some trick in programming. They

were also cool.

Talking about the problem, we encountered this with my friend who was also

an OJT. I accompanied her in the comfort room inside the pantry. Then one of the

employee told us that the comfort room is only for the employees. As far as I

remember they oriented us that we can also use that if we need too. That was the

only comfort room that was near to us but being only an OJT, we respected what she

said, said sorry and we did not utter any word. We just went in another bathroom.

Therefore I conclude that being an OJT, you should respect all of the

employees even though sometimes they hurt your feelings. They are older than you,

also they were the employees. You should not do anything that will make them angry

and hate you. Even thought when their bad mood flows all to you, you should

understand them and just think that it was just because they have a bad day.

22
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

B. Working with the Supervisor/ Manager

Supervisor/ Manager are the one who will teach you how to be disciplined in work

and will teach you how to be responsible. As an intern, I respect them, their rules. I

worked with them with respect all the time even though they scolded me. It is

important to remember every details they do not like, to not do mistake again. We

were just trainee, a step in awakening ourselves how a work runs.

The problem that I experienced was when there was the boss, she gave me many

tasks. I am not good in multi-tasking that was why the boss got mad and scolded me.

At that time, I just lower down my head and said sorry. I am not the type of person

that get angry and also to the people who envy her, I remained calm and accept all

the things had she said. And after that, she became calm and suddenly, it became

that okay.

If you have a trouble and your boss got mad at you, you should have to be quiet

and remember everything she told you. You should remember all the details for you

not to do it again. If you do that, they will get calm and will forget your sin to them.

They will forgive you because you were not reasoning. You will get a heart relief if

that happened. Respect them all the time that was the most important thing you

must remember.

23
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

C. Working with the Community

You should always be polite wherever you are, even outside the industry, in the

community, to the street vendors, to all of the applicants and etc.. People that you

encounter must be respected. They were also tired from work which means, their

works were hard also, you should not judge them. Activities in the community were

also fun because you will encounter many people, your co-workers,

supervisor/manager and the community. A bonding that can build a thick bond

relationship.

The problem that I had encountered in the community was when the interns

were not invited in an event. We feel like were still not part of the family because of

that, even though we shared a lot of fun chats. They were practicing dance inside

and we were just watching them. They finished the program without the intern,

without me. It was hard to take but we must continue the training with a positive

vibes.

Therefore, I conclude that you should be professional if a case like that

happened. Because bad vibes will just turn your mood down. You should have

always have a positive vibes. Thought I think that time, our training were more

important than that program. But, if they invited me to that event I will surely go with

them.

D. Daily Narrative Report

Day 1(August 04, 2017)

We already had our first day in OJT today. At first, I got nervous because I

thought that we will do some program activities but I got relieve when they just said

that we were just going to observe. As I observe them, they were making the website

be attractive and it was all about our place here in Cavite, and they do it easily

because they were using short cut keys to make it fast. When the time went by and

became 3pm, they requested us to be with them to help them by assisting DTS

installation. As I saw them working on it I thought it was really hard to fix because

they really look stressed by doing it. When they finished it, we went back to the

PICTO and again, we observed until our time ends.

Day 2(August 07, 2017)

We first attended the flag raising in the gym together with all the employees

of different departments. When we finished it, we finally went in the PICTO and took

a little bit rest before Sir Jerald taught us about programming languages. He first

taught us about how the bootstrap run and how could use apply it in HTML. He also

gave us a task that we should download the Xammp/Wampp and Visual Studio

application that will surely help us on making a simple running program. When he

finished doing it, the next mentor was Sir. Gilson and Sir Jerald asked him to share

his knowledge to us about programming and they were really kind because they also

taught us some tricks! It was really awesome.

25
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

Day 3(August 08, 2017)

We observed their works, then when we got bored we went to the Admin’s

office to get some activities and Ma’am Mherl gave us the DTR files that we were

going to sort off, it took more than one hour to finish it, we secondly do installing of

Visual studio and Xammp and then we try what we learn. We just do coding at

Xampp until the time ends.

Day 4(August 09, 2017)

This day, Sir Gilson was our teacher. He taught us about constructor and

instantiation. I am so glad that everyday there was another knowledge that adds to

my mind. He also taught us about PHP, after I saw how PHP code works I am really

amused, PHP code language was understandable than other language. He also

taught us on how to use catch and try. After he finished his lesson, he asked if we

have more question that’s why I asked him a question about codes. When we

finished it, they were off to take a lunch. Then after lunch, we just do coding at the

Net Beans.

Day 5(August 10, 2017)

As we observed them, they were really fast in making a code. I read it and

marked it on my mind to apply it in visual studio. After observing, I had fun in using

codes and I tried it in Visual Studio, The people now was really busy, they did not

even look to our side. That’s why we just used our time in coding on the Visual

Studio.

26
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

Day 6(August 11, 2017)

We assisted the admin in the meeting area by helping in serving food and

making a coffee for the people who had a position in capitol. After their meeting

ends, we cleaned the area and we ate the foods and drinks that they gave. Then we

went back to the encoder’s area and tried some codes again.

Day 7(August 16, 2017)

At the morning, we did coding. Then when the 10am came, Ma’am Gladys

asked for a help, she commanded us to encode the clients feedback at the Excel,

when I am not seeing the papers, I thought that it was easy but when I saw it, my jaw

dropped! It was thick! But it was okay, at least we can help her and it was really okay

because we had an activity this day. While we were encoding, my neck hurts so bad

and it made me cry. I did not expect that this was the feeling of encoding. We did not

finish encoding the papers, we just continue it tomorrow, only few papers we left

that’s why it is okay.

Day 8 (August 17, 2017)

We continued the works that we did yesterday, encoding their feedback were

slightly hard because their writing was like the Math subject, hard to understand, but

it was okay to me because we experienced the encoding. After we finished doing it,

we saved the file in a flash drive and we gave it to Ma’am Gladys. Then the day in

PICTO was exciting because Sir Gilson said that he will teach us tomorrow.

27
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

Day 9 (August 18, 2017)

Like what I have said yesterday, Sir Gilson was our mentor today. He talked

about computer languages, he also taught us how to code the OOP, when the class

finished, Sir Bryan needed a help in making Cavite Brochure that’s why he gave us

the activity, it was so easy because we just cut and ordered the pages.

Day 10 (August 23, 2017)

We observed what the programmers do and the one that they were doing was

they making codes for the content of the Cavite website, that’s why we focused in

observing. We really wants to know how it works and how to code it. Then I tried to

do it too, just trying.

Day 11 (August 24, 2017)

They were all busy that’s why we just do codes in Net Beans and we just read

the notes about Java and CSS and then we tried to code it. We also used the Xammp

today, we tried to make a code that was running in Google.

Day 12 (August 25, 2017)

In the morning we, do sorting the files of TESDA Certificate. It took a long time

because it was more than 300 hundred certificates. After a long hour, we finished it

and begun to start a new lesson about PHP. They taught us on how to do username

and password like Facebook. He also said that it will served as our assignment. We

did a program to make an output like on Facebook; the username, password and log

in.

28
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

Day 13 (August 29’ 2017)

We helped Ma’am Mherl for the preparation of Job orders DTR, I observed

that work time was the most important in their DTR. They really respect time, they do

not have lates. We just rewrite their time in the new DTR, it was just easy because

after we rewrite we arranged it alphabetically and we were done.

Day 14 (August 30, 2017)

I went to the master of PHP, to observe. He was Sir Jerald, he taught me

some basic in of PHP and also he also helped me to find the problem of my Xammp

then he fixed it after he saw what the problem was. He just did some alien codes. It

was really amazing. After he fixed it. He taught me on how to use PHP admin,

Bootstrap, and Google tab to put the output on it. In making username, password

and log in you need bootstrap.

Day 15 (August 31, 2017)

We make the OJT Attendance and encoded the attendance for the month of

September to November 2017, to be prepared. We just use the Excel to make the

attendance. We also helped the head to fix what was wrong to the papers. After we

finished it we went back to the encoder’s area to work again and write the codes.

Day 16 (September 4, 2017)

This was our last day in OJT, we spent hours only this day because that was

my late. I am always late because sometimes, I am making my sister’s food before

29
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

leaving. We helped Ma’am Mherl to make the OJT weekly report, in an OJT report

there was 3 admin’s signature needed. We made 40 copies of it. There were 2

Supervisors that’s why, 1 for the other side of OJT and 2 for the another side of OJT.

After that day ends, the administrative head left earlier and the supervisor was

absent. We go back there again to have their signatures.

30
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

A. Working with the Co-Workers

(Christian T. Leoder)

When I’m in PICTO with my co-workers all I do was follow the orders of my

senior co-workers. First week in PICTO we were in the team preventive maintenance,

we helped our mentors to repair and clean the CPU of a computer. After a week our

technical supervisor trades us on the other team. Team of Programmers all we did

was lecturing, tutorial, coding, and observing.

The problem that I encountered is when we got was when our mentors ordered us to

go the other departments. The problem was I don’t have any idea where it is because

I’m not familiar to the place.

My solution to my problem is better ask to the other people and always knew the

places that where I am going.

31
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

B. Working with the Supervisor/Manager

When I first met our supervisor I am very nervous because my first impressions

to him was he was strict but after all the days that we worked at him I am wrong. I

was very happy because our supervisor was very funny. Every time we saw him, we

always laugh because of his funny jokes. He was a nice person and he helped us on

our work to make it easier and faster. Working with our supervisor was very fun.

The problem that I encountered was when our supervisor ordered us to do some

paper works and we didn’t listen well so I didn’t have any idea to do that. It was hard

for me because I did not listen well to the instruction and I don’t have enough time to

do it.

So my solutions to solve my problem are next time I must listen carefully to our

supervisor and pass the paper in time so the task must be done.

32
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

C. Working with the Communication

Working with the community was good because we were surrounded by nice

people. Our mentors and employees were all kind to us. Every morning we always

greet them and give them a smile. Lunch time we were always sharing some foods

and laughing because of some funny jokes. They helped us by giving some tips and

advice to make our task done well.

The problem that I encountered was when my supervisor gave a task to us and I

got myself some trouble because we didn’t know what we are going to do so our

works has been delayed. Our supervisor was mad to us because we did not pass it in

time.

To solve my problem is I should pass it in time so the task must be done. Listen

carefully and always ask if you didn’t know what you are doing.

D. Daily Narrative Report

Day 1

This was the first day of my OJT at PICTO (Provincial Information Communication

Office). I am very nervous because I not have any idea because this was my first OJT.

This day, we introduced ourselves to know each other and it was fun because of our

funny mentors.

Day 2

This was the second day of my OJT at PICTO. I am very excited because today I

feel lucky and I am very happy. Our mentors oriented us and talked to us to know the

rules and regulations in PICTO. Our supervisor moved us to the TECHNICAL TEAM

and we waited for our task.

Day 3

This day, our supervisor and mentors gave a task to us. We helped our mentors to

clean the units of computers, it was very easy just open the units, wipe and sweep

the debris inside of CPU’s. I am very tired but I am happy because my task well done.

Day 4

This day, I am excited because we went to the other department office to do

other DEPARTMENT OFFICE to finish our PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE. I am very

tired and haggard because of so much computers units that I cleaned.

Day 6

This day ours supervisor decided to trade to us to the Encoders and Programmer

Area. Because they want us to help them. I am sad because I missed the

TECHNICAL TEAM but that was the decision of our supervisor so we need to follow

them.

Day 7

This day all we did was observing to the encoders and programmers area to know

what the employees were doing. I was amazed at them because it was so hard, but

they do it well. Our mentors teach us some things to do like FLOW CHARTING. I am

very happy because I did well.

Day 8

This day, we continued our observation and lecturing the information of the

different languages of Computer programming. I am very nervous because it was

difficult to understand. But our mentors kept in letting us to never give up.

Day 9

This day, I am very stressed because I don’t have enough energy. But I must go to

do the PICTO so this day we continued to learn about the Computer Programming

35

Languages. Our mentors told us to practice coding using the computer. I am very

excited this was my first time to code in the computer I am very happy.

Day 10

This day, we practiced our skills and knowledge about the PHP and Visual basics

it was hard. I watched some PHP tutorials at youtube to know some details and

make it well. I did well I am very happy. So our mentors are proud because of my

work.

Day 11

This day we continued coding again to make my codes done. I always searched

some data to know the details and make it good. I am very busy doing my codes and

searched some information.

Day 12

This day our mentors told us to use other software (Note pad ++) this time I use

the other Computer Programming Languages (HTML). I tried to make a website it

was so easy because I am familiar to it. I am very proud of myself because I can

make a website.

Day 13

This day, I am very happy because my website is done so I did again some

website to improve my skills. I am tired of coding. My hands and my head ache it

was hurt. I suddenly took a rest.

Day 14

This day, I am happy with a little sad because our days here in PICTO has already

done. We went to the other office to get the requirements to claim the

CERTIFICATES. I am very busy getting the requirements.

Day 15

This day was the last day of our OJT at PICTO. I am very sad because I will miss

our CO-OJT, Mentors and Supervisors but I am happy because my task and works

were done well. I gained new knowledge and I thanked to God that I finish this OJT.

A. Working with the Co-workers

(John Patrick I. Moral)

When I am in the PICTO, OJT days. I am always working with my co-workers

everyday. We were busy because we need to finish our work at one office. I was

assigned in the software of the computer and list all the description about the parts

of software. The other two co-workers were on the other pc. We worked together and

helped each other. Sometimes, if we have time, me and my co-workers hangout for a

short time and talked happily with each other. We worked well together and we

enjoyed our work.

We encountered a problem, entered the other office because we did not know

where and what are the offices in the Provincial Government because we are new in

this work. Me and my co-workers were which office to enter and one of my problem

was when I am listing I do have enough papers. They do not gave me enough papers

and we need to finish the maintenance quickly.

In order for us to solve the problem, we asked the staff of the office on which

room should we enter and he told us the right office that we need to enter. We fixed

the other problem by printing another copy of all the papers because we need to

finish it fast before we go to another office maintenance.

B. Working the Supervisor/Manager

Working with the supervisor made me learn more about their work. We also

followed them to everywhere they go like fixing pc in other offices. everyday we

worked together , I learned more about everything inside the office. We worked

everyday with a great smile to each other. Work with them with respect and work as

a team.

Sometimes we have a problem like having a virus that infected the other pc on

other offices. The virus deleted some files inside the computer. Me and my

supervisors felt bad to fix this. And when I am in the programming area, we also

have a problem with our supervisor because one time in the office it was not time to

take a break but me and my classmate took a break without them knowing.

The solution to our problem was my other supervisor gets an anti-virus for the

computer, we worked as a team and fixed the virus. While inside the programming

area, we fixed the problem with our supervisor by telling him the truth. And we

promised that we will not do it again.

C. Working with the Community

Working with the community was so great for me because the other workers

in the office was so kind to all the immersion students. Everyday, we greet each

other with a great smile. Sometimes, we were eating lunch together. When the other

workers needs some help we were helping them because when I need some help,

they were always at my side to help me.

While working with them, we had a trouble because there was problem in the

office. We did not know this because we were only an immersion students. In the

programming area, we had another problem because one of our supervisor got mad

to us because we did not follow her given task.

The solution to our problem was when the big boss of our team told us that

were going to work as a team and forget the argument of each other. While in the

programming, we promised and apologized to her because we did not follow her

given task

D. Daily Narrative Report

DAY 1

This was my first day being an OJT student inside the PICTO industry. My first

day was so great but, I still nervous because this was my first time to work with the

professional workers inside this office. Our supervisors told us that, for a short time

we were going to work with the technical team and help them. I felt nervous because

that was my first time working with them but, my nervous slowly fading and I feel so

good when we do bonding while working with them. They taught me on how to fix

the software of a computer. First, I did not get it because I always forgot the steps.

The mentor told us that if you worked , show them that you are one of the

professional worker and show them that you are higher to them but you also give

respect to each other.

DAY 2

In the morning, we did the same work in my first day, they teach us and I really

caught how to software. Sometimes they giving me a work if I am free. We would not

eat lunch if one of us feel hungry because in the office we realize that their time to

eat is so short, for them the time is important and they need to submit their project

before the deadline comes. The time of their lunch is 12:00pm-1:00pm but they back

to their works after their eating lunch or sometimes their eating lunch while working.

41
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

DAY 3

In the morning, we prepared all tools that we used for our works. We need to

PM (Preventive Maintenance) all the PC in other office. We need to come over to

other office because this is the work of this team to clean and keep safe all Personal

Computer in all offices. First we assist our mentors because they were the only one

to clean this. But they taught us how to work like them. They teach us how to clean

and software all PC and soon I always assign to clean the software of the PC in other

offices. If we have a free time we were always telling a story and telling a jokes like a

bonding. Our stress fades away when we laugh each other. We need to fix all pc in 2

offices in one day and because of that we rushed our time and we work together as

a team and don't leave anyone that didn't know how to do. Before we go out in the

office, we finished our work and get smiles to each other.

DAY 4

As I expected we're doing again our work as a technical team. Since I started

to software all PC, my mentor trusted me and he left me alone then i clean and

software the pc. If the software all done, if I don't have work I help my co-worker to

clean the CPU and bringing to him the tools. When we finished all the PC inside the

office, we're going to another office and start again a work. This is our work that

we're going to other office to check all PC and clean/software all pc. All day of my

day 4, we finished again all the pc inside the 2 office. Being a technical team we

should finished our work fast.

42
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

DAY 5

In the morning, we proceed again in other office to continue our work as a

technical team. Like I did in day 4 I cleaned the software again in some PC and my

other mentors do the same. We were so busy that time, more works to come so we

need to rush and finish fast. We did not finished but we take a break. Our mentor ask

me and the other OJT to buy some food for us to take a break. They treat us a food.

They are all so kind and very respectful to each other. After we break, we continue

our work and the lunch time comes. After we take a lunch our supervisor tell us that

we'll going to be part of programming to continue our immersion days. When we're

going in the programming area, again I feel so nervous because this is our first time

again to meet other mentors. But our nervous were fades again because when our

mentor is so kind. We were going to observe their works and ask them how to do.

DAY 6

This day I started to work well with the programmers inside this office. In the

morning we stay in the technical team because we entered the office so early. So we

decided to wait for our mentor for programming. When he entered, he saw us and tell

us that if we are going first inside the programming area go to his desk. So we

started to go and again we're going to observe their work well. First we'll not caught

fast how to program PHP because we did not know how to program PHP.

43
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

DAY 7

In the morning, we alternate using the PC to learn something. First student of

animation using the PC and we will wait for him to finish. After he finished his works

me and my classmate proceed to solo learn and answered all question from the

language of PHP. For the time of the morning we all do is to answer the question in

the PHP. Lunch break comes and the three of us take a break to eat lunch. After we

take a break, we logging in inside the office for the afternoon attendance. We

proceed to our desk to take some rest and after that we continue our work. So we

spend our time in afternoon to finish all question in the PHP language. End of the day

comes, we didn't finish our works and we continue this for the next day.

DAY 8

It was another day of being a programmer students. We continued our work last day

because we did not finish it because we don’t have enough time. Since early morning

all we have to do was read solo learn and learn about codes of PHP. We observed

their works and learned more about different languages of computer programming.

DAY 9

This whole day we learned more about different languages and we used

another computer of our mentor to learn using the solo learn. We practiced their

codes and we amazed because their coding so difficult and for me more practice I

do to reach their skills. I practice using the computer and first I can't really

understand all the codes inside this language. This whole day me and my classmate

practiced PHP language.

44
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

DAY 10

This day after the other immersion student used the computer, I was sat in

front of computer and I am the net to use this. My classmate watched some tutorial

in YouTube so I did it too. After watching the tutorials I tried to code it by myself to

know if I can do it well. So first I can’t understand because some codes didn't run. So

I tried more and practiced more so at last, I understand and I did well to run the code.

DAY 11

This day I learned some techniques how to run a program because we

searched and watched some tutorials again to gain an idea. This whole day we used

again the computer and like I did last day, I practiced more to get some information

in coding the PHP language. The rotation of using the computer is alternate because

in one computer we were three to use this. So we decided to use this alternate. In the

afternoon when I was coding our mentor saw me and he said that we continue our

work because we need to learn more about coding because we are a computer

programmer students.

DAY 12

After using the application of Visual Basic, this day our mentor told us that we

may use other application like Notepad++ and we followed him. We used this

application and we tried other codes if it's run. So I decided to try the code of PHP

language if it is running and after that we saw the codes are running. While my

classmate used other codes I'm waiting to finish he and I would be next the next who

will used the computer and I tried coding other programming languages by myself.

45
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

And I'm very proud because I can.

DAY 13

Like we did yesterday, we did some coding again in application of Notepad++.

Again, I used some codes that I gain to some tutorials in Php languages. For how

many days that we spend our time to codes I learned and I'll learn more by practicing

in Php Language. We spend our time by learning some codes that we watched in

youtube and I used it in my practice.

DAY 14

This day I spend my time by completing my requirements to claim my

certificate. We're so busy to completing our requirements while our mentors were so

busy to their works. Afternoon comes, we felt that if we're done our time and days

we will miss our mentors, supervisor and other that completing our OJT days.

DAY 15

So this was the last day of our immersion. I will miss all of them and very

thankful that I gained knowledge from them. This day I feel so sad because I will

never see them again but I am very happy because learned while I'm here inside this

office. This day we spend our time to continue finish our requirements.

A. Working with the Co-Workers

(Ella Marie Parado)

Working in PICTO industry was a great experienced for me. All of my co-

workers were friendly and easy to get along. I observe that there are different work

on each department and they are still know how to chill while working. On our first

day, I was nervous because they were going to interview us. They oriented us like we

were having a 3 times break, what are the computer languages that we want to learn

and the location of the two restroom. The first restroom is on the hallway or outside

of the encoder’s area. The second one is inside the pantry. I, together with an OJT

like me usually used the second restroom because this is the nearest CR in our

location. We used this restroom for almost thirteen days as we stayed in PICTO.

The problem that we encountered is when I about to use this restroom. I

knocked the door because I knew that there was a Co-workers inside the CR and

when she opened the door, she was shocked because we were there. She said that

an OJT was not allowed to use the pantry restroom. As far as I can remember, our

supervisor said that we can use both of the restrooms and I have been using that

restroom for so long. I was confused and did not say any words and agreed to her

because she is an employee there.

After that I used the first restroom and followed her order. I did not use the

second restroom until the last day of our immersion. I concluded that time. Even

though that you know that you have the right, you have to stay humble.

47
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

B. Working with the Supervisor/ Manager

Working with the supervisor in PICTO was not easy for me. They were polite

but authoritative. There were four supervisors I worked with. Ma’am Cecil is the head

of administrator, Ma’am Mherl is the one who handle immersion students from TNTS

including OJT’s in E-lib, Sir Arniel is the supervisor of the technical and Sir Arnulfo is

the supervisor of programmers. Ma’am Mherl is jolly and friendly, I like her a lot.

Ma’am Cecil is strict and perfectionist. She wants us, the OJTs to have a good

performance when she comes around.

The problem that I encountered with the supervisor in PICTO was about our

requirements. Ma’am Mherl instructed us the requirements and things that we need

to do to get our certificate. We finished our requirements and we were ready to get

our certificate. To get our certificate, Ma’am Cecil is the one who will decides if we

can get the certificate or not. She will check if our requirements were done then she

will sign it. We need her signature to get our certificate. Ma’am Mherl was the one

who makes our certificate. Ma’am Cecil was about to sign are requirements but she

noticed one thing. She asked us if we already get our farewell exam. We are so

confused because Ma’am Mherl never gave us a farewell exam so we looked for

Ma’am Mherl who was also looked confused to what Ma’am Cecil had said. She

talked to Ma’am Cecil if the farewell exam is really necessary because we were just

an immersion students not literary a collage OJT’s. Ma’am Cecil said that we have to

take that exam because she wanted to know if we learned in the industry. Ma’am

48
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

Mherl said that there was no test paper for the programmers, only in technical but

still Ma’am Cecil wanted us to take the exam. After that Ma’am Mherl talked to Sir

Gilson the one who trained us, she told the problem to him.

After they talked, Ma’am Mherl made her decision. She will talk to Ma’am

Mherl and convince her to let us get our certificate because we were only an

immersion student. After that, she texted me if Ma’am Cecil agrees so that we can

go to our school. Having that kind of problem was stressful but still we solved it.

Ma’am Mherl is very considerate to us because she knew that it was really hard for

us to go always in PICTO just to get our certificate. I recommend that maybe in the

next immersion if TNTS send another students, I hope PICTO is ready when it comes

to the things they were teaching us and also, I hope that next time there is a ready

exam for the next batch deploying in PICTO

C. Working with the Community

Working with the community was one of a good experience in PICTO industry.

I observed that in PICTO, they celebrate many event like for example: “Buwan ng

Wika”. Each department have their cute costumes like “barong tagalog” and a

“filipiniana”, and also each one of them have their intermission number. They

practiced their intermission number before going home or after their work. However I

noticed one thing.

There were no OJT’s participating. Like, I wondered why? Maybe because they

do not have enough time to prepare. Maybe because the other OJT do not like

participating at all. I told to my friend who was also an OJT that I hope there were

also an OJTs participating such good event. Because last time when we attended a

flag ceremony, there were OJT’s participating in other office. They were singing a

church song, so I wonder why not an OJT participate in PICTO event.

For me an OJT like me is really willing to participate in any event that PICTO

will do. I would like to recommend in the industry that maybe try to ask some OJT if

they are willing to participate in the event so that they can feel that they are part in

their industry. And also, I want to recommend if they are deploying in PICTO, make

sure if a supervisor asked you to join their event you do not have to be shy at all.

D. Daily Narrative Report

Day 1(August 04, 2017)

The first day of my OJT was enjoyable. At first, I was nervous because there

was an interview and I am not really confident when it comes to my knowledge in

programming languages. They interviewed or oriented us the encoder’s area pantry

and asked us if we knew any computer languages from our course. They decided to

teach us and let us observe their work. After that, one of the employee requested to

assist them to install DTS in Finance Department.

Day 2 (August 07, 2017)

I woke up early as much as possible because today is Monday and we have to

attend the flag ceremony at Trece Gymnasium together with the other Government

employees. After the ceremony we went to the office and Sir Jerald taught us some

PHP language. Before are lecture ended he reminded us that we should bring laptop

to install Xammp and Bootsstrap.

Day 3 (August 08, 2017)

Today I am was very excited because my friend who was also an intern

brought a laptop as what Sir Jerald told to us. After that, Sir Jerald approached us if

we had a laptop. Sir Jerald taught us PHP languages and said that we have to install

Xammp and boots strap. Then, we went to our table and Ma'am Mherl gave us a job.

We sorted DTR and that’s how my day ends.

51
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

Day 4 (August 9, 2017)

Today we were still here at Sir Ace table because he was still absent. We

observed other workers on what workers’ works and we got really bored but Sir

Gilson approached us and said that we were going to the pantry. He taught us some

Java and Visual Basic. After that we came back to the table and that was it.

Day 5 (August 10, 2017)

Today we were not really proactive. We just observed other workers and we

did not asked Ma'am Mherl if she will give a job on us because me and my co-intern

were very shy and we were not really used to in this surroundings.

Day 6 (August 11, 2017)

Finally, this was the end of our first week here in PICTO. We just assist the

admin staff because Ma'am Cecil was holding a meeting with the other head

department. We were helping in serving some food and drinks. After that long

meeting, we came back to the encoder’s area and did observed again.

Day 7 (August 16, 2017)

One of the admin staff of Ma'am Cecil, approached us and gave us a job. She

gave us a bunch of guests’ feedback papers from all department. We borrowed three

computer in the encoders’ area and encode the guests’ feedback. At first, it was easy

because we were just encoding their feedbacks and I like their comments because

the guest or customers were happy to the services of the government. However, as

time passed by my back and neck started to feel pained. I thought that encoding was

52
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

an easy job but now I know that it was not. So we did not finish the encoding this day.

Day 8 (August 17, 2017)

I arrived early today because I wanted to continue my encoding about guests’

feedback but when I was looking for Ma’am Gladys, she was not around so I went

back to our table. A couple of minutes, Sir Gilson taught us another lecture about

Java and Visual Basic. He also taught us some tricks in VB. After that, I decided to

go back to admins department to look for Ma’am Gladys and she was there. We get

the file and the papers that were not done encoding. We let our day finished with that

activity.

Day 9 (August 18, 2017)

Today, we continued are lesson with our mentor Sir Gilson, he also taught us

on how to code the OOP. When are lesson finished, we assisted Sir Bryan in making

some Cavite Brochure. We did the cuttings and ordering of the brochures.

Day 10 (August 23, 2017)

We observed Sir Gilson in programming Visual Basic. He explained the things

that we asked him and he also shared some personal experiences to us. He just

shared his life when he was an OJT and he gave some good advices for an intern like

us.

Day 11 (August 24, 2017)

Today, they were all busy that was why we just do the same thing, observing.

After we observed we, just do some NetBeans and study Java in Solo Learn. We also

53
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

tried the Xammp if it will work out in my computer.

Day 12 (August 25, 2017)

Today, Ma’am Cecil gave us a job, sorting the files of TESDA Certificate. It

almost took 1 hour to finish sorting because it was more than three hundred

certificates and we have to check if the people’s name was correct or if their awards

were also correct. After that we started lesson about PHP and we were taught on

how to get the username at password box. Sir Jerald was the one who gave us the

task and he also made this as an assignment for us.

Day 13 (August 29, 2017)

Me and my co-inters helped Ma’am Mherl in preparing the job orders DTR. I

messed up one time in one DTR because I did not listen to what Ma’am Mherl has

said. I was nervous but thanks God, Ma’am Mherl was not angry at all.

Day 14 (August 30, 2017)

They were all busy that’s why we just observed again. I observed at Sir Gilson

is table quietly because I do not want him to be disturbed at all because they were

busy. After I observed, one of the technical team asked us if we can help him. We

went to the admin’s office and he gave us scissors. He just wanted us to cut his print

outs. After that, he gave us chocolate bars.

Day 15 (August 31 2017,)

Today me and my co-interns make the OJT’s attendance for the month of

September to November 2017. We used excel and print it out. At first, I thought the

54
TANZA NATIONAL TRADE SCHOOL

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL – TVL TRACK

printer was not working but it just run out of paper.

Day 16 (September 4, 2017)

This was our last day in PICTO industry. I only took half day because I have a

1 hour late and we have to complete 120 hours. Ma’am Mherl gave us the

requirements to make our certificate.

CONCLUSION

Nothing beats experience as the perfect learning tool. This immersion served

as a good stepping stone to pursue our dreams. Each one of us encountered many

type of problem like financial problem, stressed on daily transportation and other

errands. However, this kind of problem gave us an inspiration to be more serious and

focused in studying. With the help of work immersion industry we experience the real

world of work and we were inspired to be a workers someday.

Despite the short period of our training, it was a memorable for each one of us.

The training boost our confidence, patient, open-mindedness and hard work every

time. This things happened to us while in our OJT. I learned to be mature and

professional both in words and action. This training made me realize that it feels

good when you know and love your doing.

My Lord, Jesus Christ

I offer You, this day,

all my work, my hopes and struggles,

my joys and sorrows.

Grant me, and all my fellow workers,

the grace to think like You,

to work with You,

and to live in You.

Help me to love You with all my heart,

Lord, Jesus Christ, Carpenter of Nazareth,

You were a worker as I am.

Give me, and all workers, the privilege

To work as You did,

so that everything we do

will be to the greater glory of God,

and the benefit of our fellow men.

May Your kingdom come into our offices,

our factories and shops,

into our homes and into our streets.

Give us this day a living wage,

so that we may be able to keep Your law.

May we earn it without envy or injustice.

To us who labor and are heavily burdened,

May we never sin against You.

Show us Your way to work,

and when our work here is done,

may we, with all our fellow workers,
