Firelands Presbyterian Church will host its kickoff
speaker for the new Firelands Caregiver Support Group
on Sept. 12 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Rhonda Hill,
former counselor for Port Clinton City Schools, will share
her experience, strength and hope, gleaned from 18
years as caregiver for he late husband who suffered with
Alzheimer’s. Please join us as we start this journey of
caring for those who care for others. If you are currently
a caregiver, have been a caregiver in the past or are
simply interested in supporting caregivers, we would
love to have you join us. Feel free to call Anne O'Malley

you have any questions or concerns.

Our Annual meeting of the congregation will be following
Worship. Annual reports will be available Sunday
September 22 for you to read to be prepared for the
meeting. A potluck meal will follow the meeting.
Sandusky Sunrise
Please tell everyone in the region to mark their
calendars for "Sandusky Sunrise" on Saturday,
September 21, 2-5 pm at the historic UCC
Congregational Church, 431 Columbus Avenue,
Sandusky. The Welcome Sandusky Task Force invites

Bistro 163 Community Dinner
September 9 5- 7 PM
The monthly Free Community Meal at Bistro 163
continues to be a very popular way to meet the needs of
food insecure seniors and families in our community.
Our dinners are on the second Monday of each month.
All neighbors are always welcome to attend, both those

support before, during and after the difficult loss of our
daughter, Jordan. From the kind words and cards we
received to the luncheon put on by church members, we
are very grateful for all of it. We have felt so hugged by
our church family and know that you will still be there
for us as we go forward in our lives without our sweet
Jordan.

New Emergency Food Pantry
Procedures
We will now be taking prepacked bags to Ottawa
County Community Support Services along with
Kroger gift cards
The Food Pantry team members should check with
Heather Lopez* (or appropriate person) at Ottawa
County Community Support Services (Phone # 419-734-
9494) on their assigned day to find out the number of
prepacked bags of staples needed.
Prefilled bags of staples from our food pantry will be
taken to the Ottawa County Community Support
Services in Sutton Center. The designated staples for a
family of two will fill 2 bags. (Please Letter the first 2
bags A adding the date filled then continue with B, C, D
etc plus date for additional couples) $20 gift cards to
Kroger will be given so that the families can purchase
their own perishable items. The Food pantry team
members will have to purchase additional $20 gift cards
at Kroger as needed.

Firelands' mission "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" was Congregational Church , 431 Columbus Ave in Sandusky
highlighted in the latest issue of Presbyterian Women's at 3:00 PM Please arrive by 2:00 for the opening
magazine, "Horizons." To give a little background, since ceremony if possible.
1888, Presbyterian women (thanks to Eliza Clokey of
Springfield, Ohio) have been giving back to their
communities with their Thank Offering Grant by funding
programs that provide education, safe housing, food,
clean water, health care and more. Our mission was
chosen out of 75 applicants worldwide; 18 of the 75
were chosen for funding. We are diligently working on
using their funding of $20,000 to supply our storage
areas of beds and bedding and are in hopes that will
cover us for up to two years. Please take a look at the
brochure on our bulletin board that lists the grant
recipients for 2019 covering many of our synods and
presbyteries and the generous gifts that have been
shared.

Thai mission Co-worker, Esther Wakeman, reports in her

August newsletter that she has recently been on our
west coast to visit her new granddaughter, Joy. Her
letter also hangs on our bulletin board for you to read.
Esther quotes Ephesians 2:10 at a time of reflection on
her work for Christ and how she tackles it, "for we are
God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should
walk in them." She wishes to be following the leading of
God's spirit each day, discovering and walking in the
things God has planned for her that day. Great advice
for all of us!

We cannot believe that summer has already come to an end! Time sure does fly when
