PPTA MEMBERSHIP

Membership in the PPTA follows the provisions of Articles 1 & 2 of the PPTA Constitution and
By-laws.

Classification of Members

Members are classified as either Lifetime Member or Associate Member. The PPTA
President, with the unanimous consent of the Board of Directors, may also appoint an
Honorary Member.

Lifetime member.
A physical therapist of the Philippines duly licensed by the Professional Regulations
Commission may apply to become a lifetime member of the PPTA. Majority of the current
membership are lifetime members.

Associate Member.
This membership may be granted to the following:

 Physical therapist of the Philippines who were employed as such by the government
or reputable hospital and institution prior to December 1964 but whose educational
backgrounds do not conform to the qualification of lifetime members
 Registered nurses and Bachelor of Science in Physical Education of the Philippines
who were employed or working as physical therapy technicians, in an adequate
facility, physical therapy department, or clinic for not less than two years prior to
December 1964

 Physical Therapist from foreign countries who are allowed to practice physical
therapy in the Philippines

Honorary Member.

The PPTA recognizes Dr. Benjamin Tamesis, first Director of the School of Allied Medical
Professions of the University of the Philippines, as the Honorary Life President of the
Association, UP SAMP being the first school established to teach physical therapy in the
country in conformity with the standard of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy.

Application for Membership

Any person who has met the qualifications for either lifetime or associate member outlined
above may apply for membership, subject to the favorable approval of the Board of Officers
and Directors

 Lifetime membership: PHP P1500.00


 Associate membership: PHP 500.00 upon application, subject to annual renewal

Payment of these dues shall be prerequisite to enjoyment rights and privileges as a PPTA
member.
Membership dues go toward processing applications, organizational operations, as well as
the Association’s annual dues in some of its important affiliations, which is usually based on
the current number of members. Members are therefore expected to keep their membership
status active.

Renewal of Membership

to renew their membership, but constant update of their participation in the activities of the
Association, such as continuing professional education, convention, seminars, and others,
are necessary in order to maintain membership status. Members are encouraged to also
update their membership information regularly so that PPTA could continue to reach and
serve them.

Associate members should renew membership in the Association annually.

Revocation/Suspension of Membership

The following are grounds for revocation/suspension of membership:

 Willful violation of the laws or any rules and regulations duly promulgated by the
Board of Officers and Directors
 Mis-appropriating funds or property owned by the Association

 Misrepresentation of the Association in whatever way

 Refusing or willfully neglecting to pay dues or pecuniary obligation to the Association

 Any action deemed in direct contrast to the mission and objectives of the Association
or those that shall put the Association or its members’ integrity in jeopardy

Revocation/suspension shall be subject to deliberation and shall require a majority vote of


the Board of Officers and Directors.

How to apply for membership

To become a Lifetime Member of the PPTA, all you need to submit are the following
requirements:
- an accomplished membership application form (download from www.philpta.org)
- 1 x 1 ID picture
- a photocopy of your PRC certificate or license
- registration fee of PhP 1,500.00

If you cannot apply personally, we have made membership registration more convenient by
providing you an option to register by sending us your personal information thru e-mail or
by surface mail, and by paying the registration fee through Security Bank.

Step 1: Download and fill out the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM from the PPTA
Downloadables section at www.philpta.org.

Step 2: Pay the registration fee of PhP 1,500.00 at any Security Bank branch nearest you.
Deposit your payment to:

Account Name: Philippine Physical Therapy Association

Note: a copy of the deposit slip should be sent to PPTA as proof of payment (originals must
be kept by applicant)
Step 3: Send the membership application form, copy of deposit slip, and other documents
to the Membership Committee, through either of the following:
· E-mail accomplished form and scanned documents to membership@philpta.org
· Send via surface mail to:
Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc. (PPTA)
Rm. 107, Philippine Medical Association Compound,
North Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines

Step 4: Notify us immediately through SMS (0916.561.5061) that you have already mailed
the requirements. We shall process your application only upon receipt of complete
requirements.

Special Note:
You may request for your PPTA membership certificate and identification card to be mailed
to you or you may choose to pick them up at any of our official registration sites. Please
register only at the official registration sites listed above. Transact only with the authorized
persons also listed above.
