During the Global Warming Orientation/Climate Change Orientation and Proper Waste Disposal
Symposium held last November 10, 2016 at ANHS Quadrangle, we invited Jowell P. Dellosa, DMO III of
DENR.
The Global Warming Orientation program started with a prayer which was led by Eden Hope
Magno, SST-I. It was followed with the opening remarks by Nenita S. Angulo, Head Teacher I. The
speaker’s talk started with Global Warming, followed with his discussion on Climate Change and finally,
Proper Waste Disposal. As an output for this activity, the students had proper labeling of their trash cans
and proper segregation of waste materials inside their classrooms.
On November 28, we had a series of contests, such as: Debate, Essay Writing Contest,
Readathon, and Poster Making Contest organized by the persons responsible as stipulated in the English
Department Work Plan of Activities.
The following day, November 29, it was a day full of activities, such as: Spelling Quiz Bee, Literary
Quiz Bee, Reader’s Theater, Poetry Reading Contest, and Impromptu Speech Contest.
For the Gift-giving Activity, we encouraged the students to share in kind any used clothes or
canned goods/rice/noodles for the less fortunate brothers and sisters in Sitio Ulpoy, Brgy. Amungan, Iba,
Zambales. In order to raise funds also, we had Christmas caroling in the residences which we used to
purchase canned goods and noodles for the said activity.
We also solicited “ukay-ukay” clothes from Ukay-ukay stores in Iba and we were able to solicit 10
sacks of ukay-ukay clothes.
Finally, the culminating activity was graced with the Search for Mr. and Ms. Literary Character.
The program started with a prayer which was followed with the singing of the National Anthem. The
English Department Coordinator and English Club Adviser, Maria Christina B. Sereño, gave the Opening
Remarks and it was followed with the production number of the contestants. The MAPEH student teachers
from RMTU were the ones who trained the contestants with their production number. It was followed with
the Introduction of Contestants. Then, the contestants showed their talents during the talent portion. After
the talent portion was the parade of contestants in their literary costumes made up of trash (foils). Then it
was followed with the question and answer portion. Then, it was followed with the awarding of winners of
the different contests and then the proclamation of winners of the search for Mr. and Ms. Literary
Characters. The masters of ceremony during the said contest were the English Major student teachers of
RMTU.
