SUBJECT: AC VNA ESD protection update

MODELS AFFECTED: B463 (V30ZMU), B464 (V35ZMU)

DESCRIPTION:
This Parts-Service Gram is being issued to announce the availability of a kit to improve the ESD
(Electro-Static Discharge) immunity of the AC VNA. Additional modifications are currently under
Engineering review and they will be released on a separate Gram as they become available.

Following are instructions for updating an AC VNA to improve the ESD Protection using kit #
4005446.

NOTE: Before starting these modifications, create a custom truck file using ETACC to save the
following SICOS menus.

2. Parameters
3. Adjustments.

Also make note of which options are enabled on the SICOS “Active Options” screen on the SICOS
display itself as well as any operator passwords, Lift Limits, etc.

Unplug battery before performing the following modifications.


Step 1 – Drill and tap to M6 holes in the operator platform (205mm from operator platform floor) on
both sides of the seat assembly. Also remove paint around the hole. Install a 380mm Ground
Strap using a star washer, washer and M6 bolt.

Step 2 – Drill and tap a M6 hole at the base of the Armrest Cylinder (both sides of the seat
assembly). Connect the other end of the 350mm ground strap from Step 1 with a M6 bolt and
washer.

Step 3 – Drill and tap a M6 hole by the key switch (Note! A smaller hole already exists in this
location that can be drilled out). Install the Key Switch ground tab and strap (130mm Ground
Strap). Also connect one end of the 220mm Ground strap to this point. Connect the other end of
the 220mm Ground strap to horizontal Armrest frame (see pictures below)

The other end of the Ground strap at Key switch is fastened next to the Gas cylinder mount. This
requires drilling and taping a M6 hole.

Step 4 – Install ground straps (125mm) between Left and Right joystick base (a) and Vertical
Armrest frame (b) . (Note you will have to use a M6 bolt to affix the Joystick frame ground to the
arm). Make sure to use the upper threaded hole next to the arm release cylinder. Note! Make
sure to orientate the terminal up towards the Arm Release cylinder (opposite of the way that is
shown in picture).

Step 5 – Install Ground wire from Joystick Metal shaft to Joystick Base Frame. (Note orientation of
terminal and wire)

Step 6 – Install Ground Strap (225mm) Between SICOS ground point to Armrest horizontal
column. Note: Affix one end of the strap on the same bolt that the SICOS Ground wire is on.
Then drill and tap a M6 hole next to the upper gas spring mount on the movable armrest. Route
the ground strap as shown below.

Step 7 – Install updated E Stop – Be sure to remove (NO) set of tips to make room for the harness
plug.

Step 8 – Install rubber boot (15mm long) over Armrest Release using an adhesive such as Loctite
Super Glue.

Step 9 – Install a 25mm square of Clear Adhesive tape over Wire Guidance Light.

Step 10 – Install a 5mm square of Electrical Tape over side pins of Palm Rest adjustment on
Joystick.

Step 11 – Install new SICOS

Step 12 – Install all covers and connect battery

Step 13 – Connect ETACC to truck and power on.

Step 14 – Go to the SICOS Tester Menu and obtain the Serial Number

Step 15 – Contact Resident Service to get option enable codes by providing the SICOS serial
number and enter them in the SICOS “Active Options” screen.

Step 16 – Download the saved settings back into the new SICOS you saved in Step one.

Step 17 – Do Calibrations.

1. Traverse Min/Max
2. Rotate Min/Max
3. Traverse/Rotate Center
4. Auto forks to Center
5. Pantograph (check nameplate on truck to set correct pantograph stroke).

Step 18 – Set SICOS Menus

1. Cab Offset – 9, Fork Offset 3


2. Lift Limits
3. User Passwords
4. Program Fork Block
5. Program Block Traction (typically set to 150).

Step 19 - Test Drive unit to check operation.

Step 20 – Modification complete
