ENTERPRISE Administrator License Configuration Guide
License Configuration in
ENTERPRISE Administrator
Overview

This document explains the steps to follow in order to segregate ASSET and CONNECT
User licenses in ENTERPRISE Administrator using Group Permissions as one solution. It is
also possible to segregate licensing at User level however this configuration will generally
take much longer to achieve since desired changes will have to be made for each User in the
pool. The steps to follow when configuring Group Level permissions are described in detail
under Steps to follow and as regards User Level permissions a brief description is provided
in the Appendix.

Pre-requisite Checks

In order to ensure that Group membership licensing permissions take precedence over
User licensing permissions, for each user the Apply License Control checkbox should be
unchecked as captured below. This is the default setting when a user account is initially
created so you may not have to correct this setting however in case it was changed, it will be
necessary to uncheck this under User Properties  License Configuration.

Steps to Follow
Creating a Group
1. Create two User Groups by double-clicking on Add Group in ENTERPRISE
Administrator under Groups e.g.;
i. ASSET_USERS
ii. CONNECT_USERS

The idea is to create for example CONNECT_USERS group to satisfy requirements

mentioned in Comments box below;

Setting Group User Membership Permissions
2. For the ASSET and CONNECT users, assign group memberships by allocating all the
ASSET users to the ASSET_USERS group and all the CONNECT users to the
CONNECT_USERS group as captured below.

Note:
For select users, it may be necessary to assign both CONNECT_USERS and ASSET_USERS
Group membership which is possible. Users can belong to one or more Groups. Provided
that for a specific User, under User Properties, the Apply License Control box is unchecked,
adding a User to multiple Groups implies that the User will inherit the union of Group
Permissions for all subscribed Groups.

Configuring Group Permissions and Privileges per Project
3. Ensure that the created Groups have appropriate Write permissions as well as
Functional and Creation privileges configured with respect to each Project. In case of
multiple working Projects in the Database, please ensure to repeat this process for
each active Project using the Project drop down.

Note:
ASSET users may be assigned write permissions, functional and creation privileges to only
ASSET modules/tools/functionalities and conversely for CONNECT users however the main
determining factor in terms of which license tokens get used is covered in the Licensing
Configuration step which follows. It is possible to have a user with full permissions to both
ASSET and CONNECT and then limit the licenses for only CONNECT functionality.

4. There are a number of ways to control license allocation for a Group under the License
Configuration tab. The table describes the different licensing control options available.

Note:
Similar options are also available for each user and can be activated to take precedence over
the Group licensing permissions.

Example showing activation of only

CONNECT license features and
functionalities.

User Level License Control

In case you decide to work with User Level License control (by ticking the Apply License
Control checkbox under User Properties in ENTERPERISE Administrator), you will have
to specify select license permissions for each user.

With User Level Licensing Control activated and once you are logged into ENTERPRISE
and using either CONNECT or ASSET, it is also possible to Drop or Get Licenses
depending on token availability as captured below.

11
ENTERPRISE Administrator License Configuration Guide
In case you prefer to manage your license tokens while logged into ENTERPRISE, then you
will have to check the Allow User Overrides option in ENTERPRISE Administrator for the
specific User account.

Once this option is checked, it is possible to specify the Startup Mode for your license
configuration. There are four possible Startup Modes i.e.:

12
ENTERPRISE Administrator License Configuration Guide
The default Startup Mode can be configured under a specific User Account in ENTERPRISE
Administrator.

In ENTERPRISE, you will have the option to modify/override and save the Startup Option.

13
ENTERPRISE Administrator License Configuration Guide
In the event that an ENTERPRISE Project has both Radio data in ASSET and Transmission
data in CONNECT configured and licensing has only been activated for either ASSET or
CONNECT, the Tool lacking License tokens will still have data visible to a User through the
2D View, Site Database or Link Database etc. however permissions for these network
elements or transmission links will be READ ONLY and all unlicensed modules will be
INACTIVE (greyed out).

For any changes made to ENTERPRISE licensing, it is necessary to logout of the Database
for changes to take effect. Closing the Project alone will not allow the changes to take
effect.
