CONTAGION
When Beth, a woman on a business trip to Vegas, comes down with a vicious virus, her
husband Mitch rushes her to the hospital. Shortly after arrival, she dies, and the virus cannot
immediately be properly identified. When Mitch comes home and finds his son also dead, he
is quarantined from the rest of the public, but it's soon revealed he is immune to the virus
and free to go. When Mitch and his other child try to leave town, they learn that the state
borders have been sealed. Meanwhile, in Atlanta at the Center for Disease Control, they
attempt to figure out where the virus came from, how it spreads, and most importantly of all,
how to cure it. A doctor named Mears sets out to organize the control of the disease, but
inadvertently catches it and dies shortly after. Dr. Hextall, a curt and brilliant young woman,
discovers that the disease is a mix of two existing viruses: a bat virus and a pig virus. While
Hextall gets hard at work trying to create a vaccine to help fight this virus, spreading like
wildfire and killing millions, a conspiracy theorist posts on his blog that a particular plant
will cure the illness. This, however, only makes the illness spread more quickly, as the sick
and healthy both seek out this flower that will keep them safe. All of the storylines intersect
heading toward the end, as we watch Mitch try to find a way to keep his daughter safe and
Hextall test her vaccines on herself in order to hopefully rush them into production.
The lesson I learned in this movie in terms of moral way is that in order to decrease the risk
of infecting yourself or others , with a little common sense and the proper precautions, we
can avoid infectious diseases and avoid spreading them. Some things that should always be
Wash your hands often. This is especially important before and after preparing food, before
eating and after using the toilet. In this movie contagion the chef don’t wash his hands
properly that’s why he passes it to Beth and the viruses had already begun to spread, next is
to Get vaccinated Immunization can drastically reduce your chances of contracting many
diseases. Keep your recommended vaccinations up-to-date. Stay at home if you have signs
and symptoms of an infection. Don't go to work or class if you're vomiting, have diarrhea or
are running a fever. Travel wisely. Don't fly when you're ill. With so many people confined to
such a small area, you may infect other passengers in the plane. And your trip won't be
comfortable, either. Depending on where your travels take you, talk to your doctor about any
special immunizations you may need. And lastly People panic. The film is at its strongest in
showing how people are likely to react during a pandemic when insufficient drugs or
vaccines are available. Next in terms of Professional way, you have to take care of yourself
first or you will have nothing left to give others. It is our responsibility to take good care of it
and treat it with ultimate respect. As a community health worker or professionals, we have
to take care of ourselves too while taking care of our patients because our mission is to
contain and stabilize the spread of a disease or virus not to infect others. In the movie we can
see that a doctor name Mears dies because she is already infected because of lack of self-care,
instead of finding a cure easily, she already lose that chance because she sick already. The
ethical problems associated with a global epidemic like that portrayed by the movie also
arise with many more familiar cases of transmissible infectious disease, from seasonal
diseases, including HIV/AIDS, a global killer already tragically familiar in the real world.
Ethical problems associated with infectious disease are everywhere, even those of smaller

scale — problems that may be just as interesting but possibly more amenable to solutions.
Contagion depicts a worst-case scenario, but that does not mean we should not pay attention
to less dramatic but still challenging real-life scenarios involving any disease that passes
from one human being to another. The Contributing factor that caused the infliction is the
chain of contagion involving bats and pigs is reminiscent of the trail of the Nipah virus (which
infects cells in the respiratory and nervous systems, the same cells as the virus in the movie),
which similarly involved the disturbance of a bat colony by deforestation and because of that
the bat flew onto pigs farm and that bat holds a virus which leads to combination of both bat
and pig virus. The chef who touches the pig doesn’t clean his hands at all and infected beth
by shaking her hands and people don’t take simple signs and symptoms seriously. The
disease depicted in the story, causative agent and mode of transmission is the MEV-1 is based
on a real pathogen, called Nipah virus, which causes respiratory symptoms, encephalitis,
seizures, and kills 45 to 90 percent of its victims. And because of that, my role as a community
individual's duties or obligations to the community and include cooperation, respect and
and educating people to have a proper hygiene and proper lifestyle. I will determine the
cause and symptoms and I will try to identify if I can manage to contain and find a cure or
solution on that specific problem. And lastly the preventive measures for such infliction not
to exist in my opinion is to have this tips such as: First is to handle & prepare food safely

Food can carry germs. Don’t leave food out – refrigerate promptly. Also wash hands often
because one of the most important healthy habits to prevent the spread of germs is to clean
your hands. Our hands can carry germs, so it is important to wash them often, even if they
don’t look dirty. Next is to clean & disinfect commonly used surfaces germs can live on
surfaces. Disinfect other areas if someone in the house is ill. Another one is to cough and
sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve. If you are sick, the air that comes out of your mouth when
you cough or sneeze may contain germs. Someone close by can breathe in your air, or touch
a surface contaminated with your germs, and become ill. An important thing also is Avoid
sharing personal items that can’t be disinfected. People should also Get Vaccinated
Vaccines can prevent many infectious diseases. Most common things also is Avoid Touching
Wild Animals, You and your pets should avoid touching wild animals which can
carry germs that cause infectious diseases. Lastly is to Stay Home When Sick
When you are sick, stay home and rest. You will get well sooner, and will not spread germs.
