Subject: Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing

Objectives: On completion of the posting the students will be able to


 Demonstrates knowledge of:
1. Identify the normal antenatal, intranatal and post natal women’s signs and
symptoms, physiological changes, minor ailments, common needs and problems and
provide comprehensive nursing care to the mother.
2. Identification of etiological factors, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management,
history taking and physical assessment, nursing needs identification, formulating
nursing diagnosis, planning of nursing intervention & providing comprehensive
nursing care of common disorders during antenatal, intranatal and post natal period.
3. Identify the normal and abnormal newborn’s signs and symptoms, physiological
findings, minor ailments, common needs and problems and provide comprehensive
nursing care to the new born baby.
4. Identification of etiological factors, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management,
history taking and physical assessment, nursing needs identification, formulating
nursing diagnosis, planning of nursing intervention & providing comprehensive
nursing care of women gynaecological disorders.
