After detailed discussions, MC decided that in present form, NBB may not be categorized under the category of Autonomous Bodies. Therefore, it may only be treated as National Level ‘Ageney(NLA) for promotion and development of beekeeping under DACEFW, as NLA under MIDH Grievance : Details of the grievance received from Scouts & Guides for Animals and Birds were presented, After detailed discussion, MC decided to refer the issues raised in the Grievance to the Beekeeping Development Committee constituted under the Chairmanship of Dr. Bibek Debroy, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) for consideration Further, if required, a Coordination Committee under tne Chairmanship of Horticulture Commissioner. DAC&FW with 4-5 members/experts from concerned Ministries, may also be con ituted to look into the matter. Regarding the issue of Protection covers to Honeybees under Wildlife Protection Act, 1970. the representative of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (M/oEF&CC) informed that honeybees/beekeeping are also being adopted as source of livelihood by forest dwellersirural poor/small & marginal farmers, unemployed youth, etc., Therefore, if it is considered under the Act, it may create hindrance for them, Therefore, the issue need to be examined and details in this regard will be communicated by the MoEF&CC. in response to NBB’s letter and grievance received from Scouts and Guides for Animals & Birds Regarding Induction of representative of Animal Welfare Board of India (AWB!) as permanent member and representative of Scouts & Guides for Animals and Birds SGAB) in MC, NBB, after detailed discussion, it was decided that since the official of Mio EF&CC Is already member of MC. NBB. the AWBI and SGAB may be kept as special invitees in MC, NB as and when required.
