THINKTRACK

NAME: Racquel Tejero/Franz Feliciano DATE: July 8, 2019

SUBJECT: Music GRADE & SECTION: Intermediate

PART 1: PLANNING AHEAD

Thinking Dispositions: Thinking about your upcoming week, what dispositions do you hope to
emphasize in your instruction? (You will likely touch on several dispositions throughout the
week, please select one that you will focus and reflect on for this Thinktrack.)

Give a detailed response about why you want to emphasize these dispositions. For example,
how will they help students learn the concepts, skills, or content you are currently teaching?

Explanation

It will help the students understand the purpose of the parts of the instrument and how to
play it.

Use of Thinking Routines: As you plan ahead, consider what routine(s) you might try out this
week. In the table below, some routines are organized by dispositions to which they have a
strong connection. The list on the next page does not include all of the routines; select any you
plan to use this week, and feel free to add any others that are not on the list.
Strategy:

Topic Artifacts: What text, objects, images, videos, or models from the curriculum will your
students engage with as they use the thinking routines you have in mind?

Topic Artifacts:

Actual Ukulele with demonstration

Documentation: How will students, teachers or others document their thinking while using the
routines?

Part 2: Looking Back

Thinking Dispositions: Think back on the last week and list the thinking dispositions you used:

Which of the following thinking dispositions do you think your classroom instruction helped
students develop? (Select all that apply).

Please respond in detail about: What went well? How do you know? What might you do
differently? What new ideas do you have for using this routine? What questions are lingering?

- The answers were good because the students were able to explore the instrument
and give good sees thinks and wonderings.
- We might focus on demonstrating the instruments more to achieve the purpose of
the students being able to strategize how they would play the instrument
-
Reflection (personal):
A reflection I have about this is about choosing the type of thinking disposition more
carefully and purposefully

I am curious about what other VTR’s I can use and how might I customize the VTRs to cater
the needs of my students in music.

1. Different kinds of line (curves and zigzags

2. I think the students are aware about when to interpret if the sound is loud or soft
based on what kind of lines they drew.
3. What thoughts were running through the student’ mind when they were listening
to the music? How did the student’s feel while doing the activity?
4. Being more conscious or having better foresight on what the student’s might
think or do during the VTR
Documentation
- Document things that will deepen or advance the learning
- The purpose is to guide the teacher to understand the ways students think
