Minutes on
School Governance Council (SGC) Meeting

Date: July 8, 2019 Venue: Burgos National High School Main Library
Time started: 1:00 PM Time ended: 4:00 PM

The meeting started by the welcoming by M. Relita V. Reyes. She discussed the terms of
references of the officers of the SGC. According to her, there must be quarterly SGC sessions about the
projects.

Ms. Rocelia Nate reported about the Dropout Project named OpenDOR. She said that Grade 7 has
a lot of dropouts. Based on the data gathered, family problem was the reason why a lot of students
dropped out of school. It was discussed that a great sign of dropout is tardiness, so teachers must monitor
those students. Based on the data, the project team decided to focus on Grade 7 in terms of finding
solutions to decrease dropouts. They said that they will have monitoring and visitation activity.

The Laging Handa project was reported by Mr. Alvin Bilangel. According to him, the objective of
the project is to intensify the disaster awareness and preparedness program in the school level by
capacitating the students, teachers, and school personnel by 50%. Target respondents are students,
teachers and school personnel. He said that they would focus on the problems that are feasible enough
to be given solutions. In their implementation, he said that they would monitor the disaster preparedness
of each room. They also plan to buy DRRM equipment and ask help of stakeholders.

The next reporter was Ms. Juvelant Javier who reported about Project Kislap. She said that Phil-
Iri or the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory must be done in all public schools in the Philippines. She
said that this is done to measure the level of reading ability of students. The results of this will help
teachers use different ways of teaching.

The Reading: Project Trip was also discussed by Mrs. May Tabelin that emphasized the need of
students not just to read but also to comprehend what they read. She said that LDRMS and Reading
Package are backups to be able to make the project a success.

The last reporter was Ms. Mary Jennyfer Pancho who discussed the Project Bayanihan. She
projected the current state of the school facilities and the equipment and materials donated by
stakeholders. She emphasized the need of unity in order to achieve the goal of having enough facilities
and equipment for a better learning for students.
