Tele-Cobalt Facility (Bhabhatron-II) for Gamma Irradiation

A new Tele-Cobalt mac hine, Bhabhatron-II has been installed at INMAS. Bhabhatron-II has Cobalt-
60, as gamma radiation source This Tele-Cobalt machine is one of the major radiation facilities
available for gamma irradiation of experimental animals and cell cultures. At present, it is
extensively used for radiobiological studies under various ongoing research programs related to
the development of radiation countermeasures at INMAS.

Features: Type of radiation: Gamma radiation (Source Cobalt-60)

Source strength: 200 RMM (Dose rate 2.55 Gy /min at 80 SSD)
Control console: Fully computerized control for facilitating real time monitoring of
machineCollimator field size: 0cm X 0cm to 35 cm X 35 cm at Iso-centre
Radiation field: Moveable Couch Assembly (Vertical, Lateral, Longitudinal and Rotation)
Attenuator: Customized moveable “Attenuator assembly” for Low Dose Rate work
Safety: Safety Interlock System, Automatic Collimator closure.

FT-IR (Infra red spectroscopy)

It is a technique based on the vibrational motion of the atoms in a molecule. It confirms some
specific functional group in a molecule.

The FluorChem FC2 Imaging System

It is a powerful scientific imaging system which utilizes fluorescent and chemiluminescent
samples. Equipped with a 1.92 MegaPixel camera, the FluorChem FC2 offers the versatility and
quality of a multipurpose imaging system.
