EROSION CONTROL AND DRAINAGE

Product: Reno Mattresses®

Problem
Based on the problem of technological constraints associated with
the realisation of protection against erosion formed by stones places
in dry concrete in the winter time, Reno Mattresses system was
accepted due to its cost and technically benefits. For these reasons
this solution was adopted for all three bridge structures of the
Rudlovska interchange, specifically BB 211-00, BB 213-00 and BB 214
-00 and structure BB 106-00.
Start of construction

Solution
The slopes under the bridge abutments are protected against
erosion with reno mattresses. Reno mattresses are units
manufactured form double twisted hexagonal woven steel wire
mesh 6x8 type, diameter 2,2 mm, Galmac coated. Thickness of
mattresses is 23 cm. Local andesite stone was used to fill the
mattresses. Given the fact that the mattresses are installed on a
relatively steeply graded slopes, they must be anchored using
ground nails. The toe of the slope is strengthen with stones in dry
concrete. Gutters and drains are also made of stones in concrete.
