I. Introduction
A. Do you know that the Amazon is the largest tropical rainforest in the world? Amazon
rainforest or also known as Amazonia is located at Brazil.
B. This forest covers about 2.2 million square miles, which approximately over 5.5 million
square kilometers. This particular size of Amazonia is 17 times as big as Malaysia. This
is truly wonderful!
C. However, the downside begins from 23rd of August this year, where this wonderful
Amazonia had been burnt out at the highest rate which is about 85 percent since 2013.
D. I probably think that in the future, we would not be able to breathe normally as before as
the rate of deforestation increases.
[Transition***Now before I talk about this topic, let me introduce about deforestation.]
II. Body
Topic Sentence 1: What is deforestation and what will happen to the world?
b. We also have seen it clearly that deforestation will affect habitat loss which are
mostly flora and fauna species.
i. In Malaysia, the Malayan tiger is one of the endangered species that can be
threatened with extinction under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010. The
decline in tiger population is because of the habitat loss due to deforestation.
(Perera, 2019)
ii. These animals that survived might not able to relocate their new home.
iii. I believe those future generations will not be able to see those species again
like elephants, rhinoceros and others.
[Transition*** I believe you all have understand the concept of deforestation. Now let me get
into the topic. ]
Topic Sentence 2: Why we as humans should save the forest in this lovely world?
B. Forests give a lot of benefits. Aside from storing carbon dioxide and providing oxygen to
us, it can be useful for other living things and environment as well.
1. Forests provide us with shelter, livelihoods, water, food dan fuel security. (World
Wide Fund for Nature - WWF, 2019)
a. Over 2 billion people nowadays rely on forests to get the source.
b. Some of these activities can involve the forests directly, which are easy to know
like fruits, paper and wood from any specific tree.
c. While some are indirectly or less obvious, such as by-products that go into
everyday items like medicines, detergents and others.
3. Forests can regulates the global water cycle and stabilize climate for the environment.
(Madaan, n.d.)
a. Forests can balance the natural cycle of water evaporation and subsequent
condensation and precipitation as rain.
b. It is truly interesting that those trees and plants also can control the atmospheric
temperatures so we do not need to depend on air conditioners.
c. Forests can reduce the impacts of floods as it provide the stability of the soil,
makes it more difficult to erode away.
[Transition*** Now, we must ask ourselves, how we can help to save the forest to raise the
awareness.]
Topic sentence 3: How can we help to save the forest to raise the awareness?
C. There are ways and means to save the forest for the sake of the Earth’s future.
III. Conclusion
A. It is clear that we cannot consider just one factor that cause the destruction of forest like
deforestation. Like I have said it before cow releases methane, definitely more powerful
than carbon dioxide and affect the climate change as well.
B. Therefore, we must realize ourselves that the forests need us to be saved. Reforestation is
not the only solution to this matter, hence we should take other actions as well.
C. After listening to my speech, I hope everyone can think again why we live in this
beautiful Earth. Finally, let me just say, if you want to save it, focus on the forest rather
than the trees. (Rudzinska-Wojciechowska, 2017)
