You arrive at the airport in another country, but your luggage doesn’t arrive with you.
When the airport staff cannot find it, you go unhappily to your hotel room. Now you have
to use the telephone for help.
Will someone at the airline help you quickly? Yes, if you are friendly and polite. Good
manners are the key to success on the telephone. Here are a few suggestions:
• Speak slowly and pronounce your words clearly. You want the other person to
understand you.
• Speak with a smile. People like to hear a pleasant voice
• Always identify yourself right away. For example, if you make a business call,
start with,” Hello, this is Bob Blair. May I speak to Carmen Rivera, please?” For
an informal or personal call, you say, “ Hi, this is Koji. Is Grace there, please?
• Be sure to leave a complete message. You can say, “ Please ask Ms.Rivera to call
me at 555-8976 about the party on Sunday”.
• Finally, always thank the person you speak with. After all, he or she took the time
to talk to you. Be sure to use the person’s name if you know it. Say,” Thank you
very much for your help, Ms. Rivera” or “Thanks a lot, Grace’.
These are just a few telephone tips. Try them in your next phone call and watch what
happens.
Bisons have not always lived in North America. They are relative new comers. They
belong to The Bovidae family, like domestic castle and the wild buffalo of Africa and
Asia. The oldest known bison fossils have been found in China and The Himalaya
Foothill, where an animal with all those essential features of the genus lived in million
years ago. They evolved rapidly and spread over most of the northern hemisphere in
Europe and Siberia. During one of the Ice Ages, the sea level dropped, exposing a land
bridge across The Bering Strait allowing the faunas of Asia and North America to
intermingle. Very clearly, the steppe bison moved eastward to the North American
Continent.

When I was in the Junior High School, I joined two clubs. They were the Football
Club and the Karate Club. I joined those clubs because I love sports, especially football
and karate. I had football on Sunday mornings and Karate on Mondays at 4 p.m.
One day my football club joined a football competition. There were eight clubs
joining the competition. At first, our club won the match. Then, we had to defeat one club
to get to the final. Fortunately, we won again. After those two matches, we had lunch in
the cafeteria. We were so impatient to play in the last game. It was the hard one because
our opponent was very tough. Finally, we won the game with a nice score of 3-2.We
were so tired. However, we were happy and proud to be the winner of the competition. It
was a very interesting competition in my experience.
