What is ICT?
- Stands for "Information and Communication Technologies." ICT refers to
technologies that provide access to information through telecommunication.

- Information and communications technology (ICT) is an extensional term for


information technology (IT) that stresses the role of unified communications and
the integration of telecommunications and computers, as well as necessary
enterprise software, middleware, storage, and audiovisual systems, that enable
users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information.

Trend in ICT
- CONVERGENCE
Technological convergence is a term that describes the layers of abstraction that
enable different technologies to interoperate efficiently as a converged system. ... As a
feature of society, convergence can spur economic growth and change how people
communicate on a global basis.

- SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is a website, application, or online channel that enables web users
to create, co-create, discuss, modify, and exchange user generated content.

- ASSISTIVE MEDIA
Assistive media is a nonprofit service designed to help assist people who have
visual and reading impairments.

- MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES
The popularity of smartphones and tablets has taken a major rise over the years.
This is largely because of the devices capability to do tasks that were originally
found in personal computers. Several of these devices are capable of using high-
speed internet.

What is World Wide Web?


- The World Wide Web (WWW) is a network of online content that is formatted in
HTML and accessed via HTTP. The term refers to all the interlinked HTML pages
that can be accessed over the Internet.
What is Internet?
- Internet is the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the
Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide. It is a network of
networks that consists of private, public, academic, business, and government
networks of local to global scope, linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless,
and optical networking technologies.
