PLANETARY YOGA

YOGA MEANS THE POSITION OF A PLANET IN RELATION TO OTHER PLANETS IN THE

HOROSCOPE. Yogas produce favourable and unfavourable results, auspicious or
inauspicious results according to their relations. The association may be based on their position
due to (1) in the same house or conjuction (2) in each others house (3) in each others
nakshatra (4) in a KENDRA OR TRIKONA FROM EACH OTHER (5) DUE TO THEIR
ASPECTS (6) DUE TO THEIR POSITIONS FROM EACH OTHER OR HAVING PLANETS IN
THE 2ND 12TH 6TH 7TH 8TH HOUSE FROM THEM.

PANCHA MAHAPURUSHA YOGA

IF KUJA IS IN MESHA, VRISHCHIKA, MAKARA AND IS POSITED IN AN ANGLE I.E. 1 4 7

10 FROM THE LAGNA THEN IT IS CALLED RUCHAKA YOGA

IF BUDHA IS IN MITHUNA , KANYA IT IS CALLED BHADRA YOGA

IF SHUKRA IS IN VRISHABHA, THULA MEENA IT IS CALLED MALAVYA YOGA

RUCHAKA YOGA

IF A PERSON IS BORN IN RUCHAK YOGA HE WILL HAVE LARGE FACE. EARN WEALTH
ON ACCOUNT OF HIS COURAGE, WILL BE STRONG AND BRAVE. WILL ANNIHILATE HIS
ENEMIES AND IS PROUD. HE WILL BE A GENERAL IN THE ARMY AND WILL MAINTAIN
HIS DIGNITY. WILL OCCUPY HIGH POWER IN THE POSITION HE HOLDS. WILL BE
FAMOUS ON ACCOUNT OF HIS CAPABILITIES. WILL HAVE FAME AND WILL BE WELL

LIKES TO EAT GOOD AND NICE FOOD AND GOOD PEOPLE PRAISE HIM.

MALAVYA YOGA

HE HAS PATIENCE AND STRONG BUILT. WELL DEVELOPED PARTS OF THE BODY.
LOVES RICH FOOD, LEARNED AND HAS HAPPY APPEARANCE. NOT EASILY
DISTURBED. BLESSED WITH WOMEN AND SONS. HE WILL RISE IN LIFE TOWARDS
GOOD FORTUNE AND SUCCESS. HIS FAME IS SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. HE
WILL OWN OR WILL ENJOY LUXURIOUS VEHICLES AND RESIDENCES.

SASA YOGA

IS VERY INFLUENTIAL. HEAD OF A VILLAGE OR HEAD OF A SECT. VERY STRONG

NATURE AND MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE CAPABLE WORK UNDER HIM. HE IS PRAISED
BY OTHERS. CHARACTER WILL NOT BE GOOD. WEALTHY AND HAPPY.

THIS ARE TO BE CONSIDERED BOTH BY LAGNA AND CHANDRA. IF A PLANET

OCCUPIES AN ANGULAR POSITION FROM MOON AND IS POWERFUL IN ITS OWN SIGN
OR ITS SIGN OF EXALTATION THEN IT WILL ENDOW THE NATIVE WITH WEALTH,
PROSPERITY, SUCCESS AND FAME.

IF ONE PLANET CREATE YOGA THEN IT WILL MAKE THE NATIVE FORTUNATE.

IF TWO PLANETS -- THE NATIVE WILL BE EQUAL TO KING

IF THREE PLANETS THE NATIVE WILL BE BORN AS A KING.

IF FOUR PLANETS THEN THE NATIVE WILL BE KING OF KINGS

IF FIVE PLANETS THEN THE NATIVE OCCUPIES HIGHEST POSITION IN LIFE.

ACCORDING TO MANASAGIRI IT HAS BEEN POINTED OUR THAT THE ABOVE FIVE
YOGAS ARE CANCELLED IF THE PLANET CONJOINS WITH SUN OR MOON. IN SUCH
CASES UNDER THE PERIODIC INFLUENCE OF THE PLANET WHICH CREATES THIS
YOGA HE WILL ENJOY ONLY CERTAIN GOOD RESULTS.

Now we consider another FOUR Yogas. These yogas are considered from the sign occupied by
CHANDRA in the birth chart. Wherever we refer to the planets we consider only KUJA,
BUDHA, SHUKRA, GURU AND SHANI. RAVI is not considered for these yogas.

ANAPHA YOGA If any planet occupies the 12th house from the CHANDRA and there is no
planet in the 2nd house from CHANDRA this yoga is formed.

SUNAPHA YOGA If any planets occupies the 2nd house and there are no planets in the 12th
house from the house occupied by CHANDRA this yoga is formed.

DURDHARA YOGA If both the 2nd and 12th house from CHANDRA are occupied by the planets
this yoga is formed.

KEMADRUMA YOGA If there is no planet in both 2nd and 12th house from CHANDRA this yoga
is formed. KEMADRUMA yoga will not show effect if (i) any planet is posited in the same sign
as that of CHANDRA. (ii) if any planet occupies an angular position from the rising sign I.E 1, 4
7, 10 houses. (iii) if any planet occupies the 4th or 10th house from the CHANDRA.

EFFECTS OF THESE FOUR YOGAS.

A person born in SUNAPHA becomes a king or equal to a king. He is intelligent, wealthy and
will become famous. He is self made person

ANAPHA YOGA pleasant to look at, has good character and behavior. He has material
prosperity and pleasures. He is well satisfied and happy by temperament. He dresses well and
keeps good health. He is respected in the society.

DURDHARA YOGA this person is ready to sacrifice everything for the benefit of others. He is
happy, wealthy and has vehicles. He has wealth and enjoys it also.

KEMADRUMA YOGA THIS is not a good yoga, person will be unhappy in life, poor, works for
others and never rises in life. Even if a person is born in a royal family he will lead an ordinary
life.

Now we consider for RAVI. Here when we refer to planets it is KUJA, BUDHA, SHUKRA, GURU
AND SHANI. MOON is not considered for these yogas

If there are no planets in the 12th but there is planet in the 2nd house then it is called VESI YOGA

If there is planet in the 12th house but no planet in the 2nd house then it is called VASI YOGA it
is also called VOSI YOGA.

If there is planet in both the 12th house and 2nd house from the SUN then it is UBHAYACHARI
YOGA.

VESI YOGA - handsome, happy, endowed with many good qualities, patience and
perseverance religious and will rule many people.

VASI YOGA will be good looking, giver, will be favourite of highly placed people, will occupy
high post and famous.

UBHAYACHARI YOGA good orator, will be a winner in competitions, sweet tongued, learned
wealthy and famous. Attractive body and pleases everyone.

The above three yogas if formed by benefics is called SHUBHA if by malefic then PAPA

ASHUBHA VESI – talks ill of others. Will find fault with everyone, dull, not attractive, bad by
nature, keeps company of low people.

ASHUBHA VASI will also find faults with others, he is a confidence trickster and cheats
others. Friend of bad people or rogues, indulges in sinful activities and tries to substantiate the
same.

ASHUBHA UBHAYACHARI is devoid of education and learning, fortunes, wealth. Always

unhappy and gets public censure.

If the same is considered from the lagna then it is called KARTARI YOGA

If benefics are there SHUBHAKARTARI if malefic are there PAPAKARTARI

If there is no planet in the 12th house it is not considered for yoga as 12th house is considered as
inauspicious.

A person born in SHUBHAKARTARI will be longlived wealthy happy and prosper. He will not
suffer from diseases and enemies.

If it is PAPAKARTARI - poor impure, sinful, unhappy and loses some portion of his body.
Short lived devoid of happiness

It does not mean that all these results will take place fully. We must consider the essence of all
these yogas. We have to draw conclusion from experience and learning as to how much to take
from one yoga. Generally speaking the effect of these yogas will manifest throughout life, but
much more so when a person passes through the periodic influences of a planet which is
creating any of these yogas.

RAJAYOGAS.

IF THE LORDS OF KENDRA AND TRIKONA ARE POSITED

a) In ONE SIGN
b) IN EACH OTHER’S SIGN
c) ARE ASPECTING EACH OTHER
d) ARE IN 1/7 AXIS.

The native who has these four situations becomes a king or like a king - famous.

In modern days we can mean that the native will be conferred with high positions in the
Government, or will exercise authority and power.

If the rajayoga planets are connected with SUN or MOON political power is forecasted.
MARS -> dictator, army officer, police

VIPREET RAJA YOGAS:

Houses 6 8 & 12 are considered DUSTHANAS 6 Signifies enemies, diseases, debts,

8th longevity, 12 vyaya,

But if there is interchange in the position of the lords of these three houses then a set of yogas
are formed. These yogas are HARSHA, SARAL AND VIMAL these three yogas are called
VIPREET RAJA YOGAS.

HARSHA - LORD OF 6TH IN 6 8 OR 12

SARAL LORD OF 8TH IN 6 8 OR 12

VIMAL LORD OF 12 IN 6 8 OR 12

HARSHA YOGA- THE native will be blessed with happiness and good fortune. He will have
sound body. He will hesitate to indulge in sinful deeds. He will conquer enemies. He will have
company of people holding high position. The native will be wealthy splenderous, famous and
will enjoy comforts from friends and sons.

SARALA THE native will be longlived, resolute, fearless, prosperous, learned, blessed with
children and wealthy. Will be successful in all ventures and get victory over his enemies. He will
be a celebrity.

VIMALA THE native will be clever in saving money, will not spend money easily, good behavior
towards others, will be happy, will follow respectable profession, good conduct, famous for his
good qualities.

NEECHA BHANGA RAJA YOGA.

Neecha here means the planet in debilitation. A planet in debilitation is considered adverse in
effect.

Bhanga means cancellation. If a planet is debilitated the effect of debilitation is reduced

because of certain position of other planets or their aspect on the debilitated planet.

Rajayoga when the debilitation of a planet is cancelled that planet gives extremely auspicious
results. Therefore the cancellation of debilitation has been given a name ‘NEECHA BHANGA
RAJA YOGA’

This rajayoga first gives the results of debilitation – there is humiliation, fall from position, some
sort of trouble before some betterment is there. The debilitated planet first creates a trouble,
clears the same and gives auspicious effects.

The principles causing cancellation are

1. The lord of the sign in which the planet is debilitated should be in Kendra either from
Chandra or lagna.
2. The planet which exalts in that sign in which that debilitated planet is posited should be
in Kendra either from Chandra or lagna.
3. The lord of debilitation sign of a planet and the lord of the planet’s exaltation sign are in
mutual Kendra.
4. If the debilitated planet is aspected by the lord of that sign.
5. If the debilitated planet is also in Kendra from lagna or the Chandra.

VASUMATHI - This yoga occurs from TWO points (i) powerfully from Lagna and (ii) ordinarily
from Chandra. When Benefics Guru, Shukra and Well associated Budha occupy the
Upachaya positions i.e., 3, 6, 10 and 11 this yoga is formed. If all the three are there then the
native becomes a millionaire, if two benefics wealthy man, if one benefic ordinary wealth.
This is also called as VASUMAN yoga by Sri. M N Kedar.

PUSHKALA GAURI YOGA - If the Lord of the 10th occupies some Navamsha. The Lord of this
Navamsa should occupy 10th in state of exaltation and should be combined with the lord of the
birth.
The effect is between 36 years to 48 years of life – effects - Charitable, good reputation, lord of
lands, performer of religious rites and sacrificial ceremonies, good enjoyment and praised by
learned and religious classes.

Thula lagna 10th lord Chandra in 12th house bt.6.40 deg to 10.00 deg Then in Navamsha
Chandra will be in Meena whose lord is Guru and he is in Kataka in natal chart along with
Shukra.

SUMALA YOGA – (SHUBHA MALA YOGA)

If all the planets are in the 5th, 6th & 7th house from the Ascendant (lagna)
 Good Person, Philanthrophist.

PARIJATHA YOGA – The Lord of the house where

lagna lord is posited OR The Lord of the navamsha
where The lord of house where lagna lord is posited is in
Kendra or Moolatrikona or Swakshetra or Ucchakshetra.
He will be happy in the middle and end of life, honoured by
Kings, fond of war and adventure, will have conveyances,
fond of charitable deeds and generous.

KUSUMA YOGA - GURU in lagna , Chandra in 7th

Ravi in 8th from Chandra i.e., 2nd then this yoga is formed.
This is a combination of Gajakesari and Shubha Vasi.
Magistrates, Head of Panchayat, Corporation etc.,

NIRBHAGYA YOGA
If the Lord of the 9th house is posited in 6th, 8th 12th
then this yoga is formed.
The native will destroy the assets received in inheritance,
Criticize/disregard saints, teachers, elders, irreligious
Actions, will be poor and in miserable conditions.

SARASWATI YOGA.
Guru, Shukra, Budha in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th
Either together or separately and Guru in swakshetra
Or uccha kshetra or mitra kshetra .
One will become famous, educated, learned,
Rich, loved by all, good wife and sons.

LAKSHMI YOGA
If the lord of 9th occupies Kendras, Mulatrikonas
Or deep exaltation and lord of lagna is powerful.
Blessed with noble virtues, ruler of many countries,
Learned, high reputation, handsome, good wealth
Large family.

SRIKANTHA YOGA
Lagna lord, Ravi, Chandra, if exalted, in own house,
Friend’s sign and in Kendra/Trikona.
Native will be saint, worships lord Shiva, belief in
Saivism, respects religions and a man of great
Personality, wears Rudraksha.

KHALA YOGA (KALI YOGA)

3-1, 3-2, 3-4, 3-5, 3-7, 3-9, 3-10, 3-11 house lords get interchanged. Eg :: 3rd lord in
1st house and 1st lord in 3rd house. ……..
 Bad temperament, Fickle minded – sometimes good – sometimes bad.

SANKHYA YOGA.
Lords of 9th & 10th together well posited in Kendra/trikona.
OR lord of Kendra & Trikona together posited in any
Auspicious bhava.
Native will be like king, wears beautiful and costly clothes
Enjoy all comforts.

DURYOGA
10TH lord in 6th 8th or 12th.
Native will not get rewards for the efforts, no one likes him,
Selfish, Wicked nature. Leaves away from his place.

PARVATA YOGA.
If benefics are in Kendra and 6th & 8th houses are free
(Some say by auspicious planets.)
OR
Lord of lagna and 12 lord are mutually in Kendras from
Each other and aspected by friendly planets
Wealthy , learning wit & humour, doing charities,
Fond of sexual pleasures, good reputation, enjoyment
And entertainment.

DARIDRA YOGA.
Lord of 11th in 6th 8th or 12th
Heavy debts, very poor, ear problem, does bad deeds.

OTHER YOGAS.
If a benefic planet is in own house, friend’s house, in moolatrikona, exalted and is posited in any
of the 12 houses while the lord of the bhava is also well posited and strong the following yogas
are formed.
First house – Chamara – progress in life and well cultured.
Second - Dhanu - posess wealth , affluent.
Third Shaurya - famous, brave, well placed co-borns, good position.
Fourth Jaladhi - owns large family, residence, conveyance, respects all
Fifth Chattra - happy comfortable life, good children, respected personality, good advisor
Sixth Astra - brave, destroyer of enemy, proud, quarrelsome, cruel, arrogant, strong body
Seventh – Kama – prosperous, handsome, admired by others wealthy.
Eighth – Asura – carry’s stories, obstructs others work, selfish, suffers because of wrong
doings
Ninth – Bhagya – stable wealth, conveyances, respected, respectful traditional
Tenth – Kheyati – appreciated by all respects saintly & learned persons, wealthy, protector.
Eleventh – Parijat – owns land, respects religion, morality, performs religious & auspicious
ceremonies.
Twelfth – Musal- Accumulate wealth, hard working, spends legitimately, never disheartened,
never cruel, never acts without thought.

IF a benefic planet is in own house, friend’s house, in mooltrikona, exalted and is posited in any
of the 12 bhavas while the lord of the bhava is also well posited and strong the following yogas
are formed.

CHAMARA - if above position is in the first house. The native will progress in life like a bright
half moon and will be well cultured.

DHANU- IF above position is in the second house. The native will possess wealth, enough
grain, precious stones and will be a king of kings.

SHAURYA If the above position is in third house. The native will be famous endowed with
administration of others. He will have trans-personality, engaged in government work and has
glorious, brave and well placed coborns.

JALADHI If the above position is in fourth house. Owns a large family, cows and cattle, fine
clothes and ornaments, residence, conveyances, honour from government, worhipper of
Brahmins and god .

CHATTRA above combination in fifth house. Happy comfortable life, good children, lucky
wealthy, of high thinking, sweet speech, respected personality, fine intelligence and good
advisor.

ASTRAYOGA above combination in sixth house. Native will be brave, destroyer of enemy,
proud, quarrelsome, cruel arrogant and has strong body.

KAMA above combination in seventh house. Native will be prosperous and will surpass his
father in qualitites. Will be handsome, admired by others, wealthy.

ASURA above combination in eighth house. Will cause destruction to other’s work. Selfish,
cause problem for others, involvement in low deeds, suffer because of his wrong doings.

BHAGYA above combination in ninth house. Owner of stable wealth respected by great
persons, worshipper of pitru, deva and Brahmins. Good moral and believer in traditions.

KHEYATI above combination in tenth house. Will be appreciated by all for his deeds and
behavious. Will take care of gentle, saintly and learned persons. Will have enormous wealth,
sons, luck, happiness from wife and fame.

PARIJATA combination in eleventh house. Native owns land wealth, happy family, fond of
listening good talks, good moral, will have hoarded wealth, performs religious and auspicious
ceremonies.

MUSAL combination in twelfth house. Native will accumulate wealth, will be hard working,
never disheartened, cruel and acts without thought. Does legitimate expenditure. Goes to
heaven after death.
