II. Course Title : Philippine History and Development

III. Credit Units : 3 units

IV. Course Description:


This 3-unit course introduces the study of the economic, social, political, and cultural
development of the Philippines from the ancient times to the present. It emphasize the relevant and
recurring issues in Philippine history and studies the serious problems that confront the country.

V. Learning Outcomes
a. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of the importance of Philippine History;
b. Recognize the relevance of the study of the past to contemporary issues and concerns;
c. Relate the role of history in asserting national identity and inculcate sense of nationalism,
patriotism;
d. Develop critical analysis in the study of Philippine history and its impact on the economic,
social, political and cultural development of the Philippines at present and amidst global
developments.
e. Appreciate the roles of the various social classes, the civil society and other important
participants in Philippine History;
f. Develop intellectual skills, such as comprehension, analysis, interpretation and evaluation of
facts and information of Philippine history
