For all of their direct reports, managers must prepare a Position Competency Profile (PCP) that identifies position accountabilities,
skills/ critical competencies and proficiency levels. The accountability scope is filled out for those positions that have direct reports and/or
financial accountability. Important! Refer to PCP instructions when completing this form!

Supervises the day to day operation of one or more Dining Services units

Essential Functions

Directs, manages and leads the overall operation of a Dining Services unit(s) (50%)

Accountable for hiring, training, performance management, career development and salary administration of dept’s staff. Provides
coaching, mentoring and technical expertise to dept staff (30%)

Ensures a safe and sanitary work environment supporting the University safety initiatives. Complies with all governmental laws as well
as the Collective Bargaining Agreement (10%)

Plans special events, promotions and marketing strategies providing oversight for catered events (10%)

Accountability, autonomy and scope

Ensures cost categories including but not limited to food and labor costs, cash and controllable expenses meet or exceed department
and budget guidelines

Works from Strategic Goals and Direction, Policies and Procedures with considerable latitude for discretion

Assigned 8 direct reports. Indirectly manages 23 employees. 20 are exempt and 3 are classified

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (be sure to note minimum requirements)


3-5 years of progressive experience in food service/retail management
Experience using performance management systems to manage employees
Knowledge of institutional health and safety standards as related to dining and retail food operations
Experience managing a complex budget and project management experience
