INTRODUCTION

The Internet of Things is the network of physical objects, devices, vehicles,

buildings and other items which are embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and

network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data. It goes

beyond machine-to-machine communication (M2M), with the use of networks of data-

gathering sensors and cloud computing, these machines become “smart”. The Internet of

Things comes together with the connection of sensors and machines. With the help of the

cloud, the data gathered from these sensors can be translated into useful intelligence and is

relayed to the machines enabling mobile, real-time responses. The use of IoT in "smart"

devices in home, school, medical, environmental monitoring and transportation brings easy

access to devices and accurate and efficient analysis of data. In this research, the concept of

IoT will be implemented to provide easy access and control of the water dispensers.

The Environment Agency in Oxford, England has sensors that give warnings about

the possibility of flood. While this has helped in reducing flood risk, the limited number of

professional sensors produces a rather average quality of data. With the help of Ben Ward of

Love Hz, an Oxford startup specializing in IoT and wireless sensor networks, local citizens

are installing their own water-level monitoring sensors in a variety of locations. These

sensors are ultrasonic rangefinders that periodically ping the surface of the water, calculating

the height to the sensor. Instead of word-of-mouth, these low-cost sensors feed the data

acquired to the Internet wherein the citizens can monitor in their own area. The crowd

sourced data can be collected to inform communities of conditions even down to which

streets are currently flooded.

Monitoring water dispenser is important to ensure that drinking water will always be

available. Failure in properly monitoring water dispensers can cause extra effort for the user.

This system will help the user or moreover the water provider to know beforehand if refilling

is needed, it also allows constant monitoring of both temperature to ensure that the dispenser

is working. Implementation of IoT to this system furthermore lessens the effort of the user in

monitoring the dispenser. Monitor it anywhere as long as internet connection is available.

The study aims to utilize application of IoT in monitoring and controlling water

dispenser. This study specifically aims (1) to create a system of sensors and actuators which

would measure water level on dispenser, temperature of water on both the hot and cold

chamber of the dispenser, and switch on or off any of the two temperature options of the

dispenser; (2) to IP Connectivity in transferring the records collected to the internet, and (3)

to develop an android mobile application where any user can view the data as read only and a

selected group of personnel to control the device.

The accomplishment of this study will benefit the community first hand using the

technology of Internet of Things. Monitoring of the water and temperature level,

functionality and availability of water stations can prevent a person from wasting time going

to unavailable water stations hence efficiently making use of time and effort. This study also

demonstrates the capability of using IoT technology in monitoring things that are distant

from the user.

The system will be able to measure the temperature and water level of the water in

the dispenser and be able to control the functionality of its hot or cold chambers. The system

will also detect if the system is malfunctioning. The recorded data will be accessible via the

internet through a mobile application. The user can display the recorded data via internet and
is connected to an application. The system is limited to monitoring the levels and controlling

of the water dispensers. The system should be placed in an area with a mobile hotspot in

order to connect to the internet and be able to display the real-time data of the system

ABSTRACT

The utility model provides an intelligent water dispenser system. The intelligent water

dispenser system comprises an intelligent water dispenser, a cloud server, an intelligent cloud

host, a mobile terminal and a wireless router. A power module, a water flow rate module, a

microprocessor module and a communication module communicated with the intelligent

cloud host are arranged in the intelligent water dispenser; the microprocessor module is

connected with the power module, the water flow rate module and the communication

module; the intelligent cloud host is used for receiving data and sends the data to the

corresponding mobile terminal through a cloud server. The intelligent water dispenser system

can be arranged in cities from corner to corner to comprehensively arrange water feeding

operations of the water dispenser, and pushing to a service terminal of a water supply

company through the cloud server can be realized; the water flow rate module of the system

is mounted at a water source contact point of the water dispenser and used for measuring

water storage amount, water flow rate and repeated water boiling times. In addition, the

intelligent water dispenser system is capable of realizing functions of timing, counting down,

remote starting, powering off in water shortage and the like, and overall allocation of

drinking water can be more scientific, safer and economical.heating or by the use of a heat

pump or a dehumidifier. Such a hot air generator can use, for example, fossil fuels, biomass,

electricity, or solar energy as a power source.
