Ms. Hogan
Email: hogana@slcs.us
Classroom: Room 2406 SLEHS
Class Website: www.mathhogan.weebly.com

CLASSROOM EXPEXTATIONS:
1. Respect your classmates, your teacher, and the property of others.
2. Be in your seat when the bell rings and prepared for class every day.
3. Cell phones and all other electronic devices must be put away upon entering the
classroom.

SUPPLIES:
- Notebook: Every student is expected to have a 2” 3-ring binder.
- Suggested sections are: Warm-ups, Notes, Homework, and Reviews
- Pencil each day.
- Graphing Calculator: You will have your own that you will check out from the
library and you are responsible for bringing it to class each day.
- AT LEAST 4 AAA Batteries. I do have a box of used batteries that you can choose
from, but there is no guarantee how long they will last. You will want to have some
new batteries.

COURSE WEBSITE: www.mathhogan.weebly.com

- This website acts as an additional resource for you.
- Calendar: The calendar will have what we did in class that day, what the
homework assignments are, when tests/quizzes are, and when assignments are
due.
- Remind 101: Information about how to sign up for the reminds. The website will
also have an up to date record of all the reminds that have been sent out.
- Unit Tabs: Under each unit there will be downloadable blank note packets,
homework assignments, and review guides. There will also be homework and
review guide answer keys for you to utilize to get instant feedback on your
practicing and reviewing.
**Most importantly: There will be a video of each lesson posted here!!

ABSENCES:
- If you are absent then please check the “What did I miss?” Green Binder to see
what you have missed; and pick up the necessary materials from the appropriate
folder. It is YOUR responsibility to get the assignments and notes you have missed.
*Each lesson will be recorded and put on the class website. So if you are absent
you are expected to get caught up by watching the video, filling in the
notes, and completing the homework!
TARDIES:
- I will follow the school-wide tardy policy.

PARTICIPATION:
- Participation is expected of all students and is essential to being successful in this
class.
- You should never feel afraid to ask a question or fear being wrong in this
classroom.

WARM-UPS:
- Almost daily you will receive a warm-up that you can complete with your
classmates. These will be collected and graded.
- These will count towards your formative grade.
- If you are absent, you do not need to do the warm-up on the material that
you missed. Instead, pick up the warm-up that was assigned on the day you
were absent from the absent work folders and work on that.

HOMEWORK:
The goal of homework is to practice concepts in order to improve and gain
understanding, not to simply complete in order to get points. If you really do
your homework and correct your mistakes, you will do better on tests and
quizzes.
- You should expect to get homework every night in order to practice what we did in
class that day.
- Homework will be checked in at the beginning of the hour every day
- If you have attempted ALL of the assigned problems with work shown, you
will receive a V.
- If you are missing ANY of the assigned problems OR all work is not shown,
you will receive an incomplete or INC.
- If you have not attempted any or very few of the homework problems OR if
no work is shown, you will receive a missing or MIS.
- This grade will be entered into Skyward, but will NOT count towards your
formative or summative grade. This is just an indication of your effort.
- Occasionally, homework will be collected and graded for correct answers.
- This will count towards your formative grade.

Homework PLINKO Incentive: If you complete all your homework for a unit ON
TIME, then after the unit test you will have the opportunity to drop one disk on the
PLINKO board to win one of five possible prizes. The prizes may change throughout
the year.
TESTS/QUIZZES:
- There will be a test given after every unit.
- As part of the review process for every test, you will be expected to turn in a packet
including ALL of the completed notes from the unit as well as the completed review
guide. This will be collected for formative points.
- There will be 1-3 quizzes per unit, depending on the length of the unit.
- Tests and quizzes will be made up before school, after school, or during Cougar
Hour. They are not given during class.
- You are responsible for making arrangements for make-ups.
- Tests will be part of your summative grade.
- Quizzes, unless otherwise stated, will be part of your formative grade.
-RE-DO/RETAKE Policy: Any SUMMATIVE Test can be retaken once, there is no limit
to the number of tests you retake. The retake score will be the new score no matter
what. See the attached Math Retake Contract for more information.

GRADING:
- Your grade consists of two parts: 70% of your grade will come from summative
assessments: Unit tests and projects. 30% of your grade will come from formative
assessments: Warm-ups, homework, and quizzes.
- Grades will be earned on the following scale:
98-100% A+ 82-87% B 70-71% C-
92-97% A 80-81% B- 68-69% D+
90-91% A- 78-79% C+ 62-67% D
88-89% B+ 72-77% C 60-61% D-
59% and below E

grade
