INTRODUCTION

1.1. PROJECT BACKGROUND

The government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (GoTL) received an


additional financing project from the Asian Development bank (ADB) for Road Networking
Upgrading Project (RNUP) Upgrading and Maintenance of Dili (Airport Junction) - Tibar Road –
Section 2: Tasitolu- Tibar (4.55 Km). The commission for Administration of the infrastructure
Fund is the Executing Agency (EA) and the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and
Communications (MPWTC) is implementing Agency (EA) . For all construction activities, the
consultant will report to the MPWTC through the Project Management Unit (PMU).

The project Section 2: Tasitolu- Tibar Road with approximate length of 4.55 Kms,
commence at Tasitolu, Sta 8+740, District of Dili and ends at Tibar, Sta 13+290, District of
Liquica and schedule for the construction widening into (4) lanes asphalt concrete pavement with
one (1) span concrete bridge, 1-2,84 meters to accommodate the increasing volume of traffic for
thr proposed new international Sea Port of Tibar. Likewise, the road section is a continuos part of
the major national route from Dili to Mota Ain, with one of the higher traffic volumes of the non-
urban roads and the one of the most important road links in Timor-Leste.

The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MPTWC) made a


contract agreement with the consultant called Katahira & Engineers International for the
construction supervision section 2: Tasitolu-Tibar Road with approximate road length 4,55 Kms.

Notice to commence of works for RNUP Upgrading and Maintenance of Dili (Airport
Junction)- Tibar Road- Section 2 : Tasitolu-Tibar (4,55 kms) was issue by the engineer to the
contractor China Wu Co.Ltd. with the effectivity day of 28 February 2017.

1.3. PROFESSIONAL INTERSHIP PURPOSE

There are two main purposes that I would like to mention:

1.3.1. GENERAL PURPOSE.


The final objective of our internship is to finalize academic requirement from
university applied to the last year students. It is also as a semester completion at the
National University of East Timor.
1.3.2. SPECIFIC PURPOSE
This professional internship is compost of some several specific purposes that are
being a target from training students:
 To direct students to learn in a work site.
 To reflect students about work experience.
 To develop students professional skills and experiences.

Trough our short term internship in two months in the program-we gained some
advantages that could develop and increased our knowledge in terms of:
